Job To Amcor - Chief Sustainability Officer

David Clark has been at Amcor for 20 years and is now the company’s first Chief Sustainability Officer. By creating this role, Amcor hopes to elevate sustainability and drive the industry towards a circular economy for packaging while reducing its carbon footprint.

Before joining Amcor, David worked in laser optics and high-tech manufacturing across the US and Europe. He served in Amcor Plant Manager roles and had oversight of an Amcor-owned recycling plant in 2004.

Amcor is a leader worldwide in developing and producing packaging solutions and provides packaging for well-known brands including PepsiCo, Nestlé and Unilever.

David explains: “By innovating packaging solutions that reduce material use, increase recyclability and increase the incorporation of post-consumer recycled materials, we are contributing to the global shift toward more sustainable packaging.

“But we also know that alone, we can only go so far. The importance of collective action cannot be overstated.”

David became Director of Sustainability at Amcor in 2005 and has been leading its sustainable initiatives forwards ever since. As Chief Sustainability Officer, he now reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and holds responsibility for Amcor’s sustainability strategy and policies.

“Aligned with our purpose, we are elevating sustainability by creating the Chief Sustainability Officer role,” says Peter Konieczny, Chief Executive Officer at Amcor.

“This enables us to further increase our focus on the significant growth opportunity we can continue to unlock by commercialising solutions that drive the industry toward a circular economy for packaging, while reducing carbon footprint.”

David holds a BS in Physics from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Pepperdine University.
