Job From: Skanska Norway - Executive Vice President for Technology, Innovation & Green Business Development

Job To: Skanska UK -  Executive Vice President for Technology, Sustainability & Innovation

Skanska is one of the world’s leading project development and construction groups.

Like all large companies around the world, Skanska has set itself ambitious targets for carbon reduction, aiming to achieve net zero emissions in the UK by 2045, including its entire supply chain.

As of 2024, Skanska has already achieved a remarkable 58% carbon reduction since its baseline year of 2015.

Recently, the company has started to restructure its sustainability team to better align with client needs and corporate objectives.

Jo Mortensen, a long-serving member of the Skanska team, is making the move across the North Sea, shipping out from Norway to the United Kingdom.

Having held the position of EVP for Technology, Innovation & Green Business Development for Skanska Norge, he will move to Skanska UK to take up a similar position as EVP for Technology, Sustainability & Innovation.

Jo is one of seven high level executives moving around internally as Skanska’s leadership team goes through a shakeup.

There, he will report to Katrina Dowding, President & CEO of Skanska UK. She says: “Really looking forward to you joining the team Jo, I’m excited for the knowledge and experience you will bring.”

In his new role, Jo will be responsible for guiding Skanska’s many sustainability objectives in the UK, which include the introduction of photovoltaic panels, biomass boilers, water-saving equipment and digital monitoring systems to standard building processes.

Overall, Skanska’s view of sustainability is that it is not only an environmental imperative, but a vital component of any sound business model, as it can help to foster innovation and growth within the construction industry.
