Sustainability LIVE: Malta will take place on 20 February 2025 at the Mediterranean Conference Centre (MCC).

Kenneth Farrugia, CEO of the Bank of Valletta

Kenneth Farrugia is the Chief Executive Officer of the Bank of Valletta Group.

He chairs the Bank’s Executive Committee, sits on the Board of Directors and is a member of several management committees.

Kenneth has held several executive positions across the bank’s credit business areas, asset management and retail banking since joining in 1985.

He is also a director on the Board of Directors of BOV Fund Services Ltd, MAPFRE MSV Life plc and BOV Asset Management Ltd. 

Kenneth has held many financial services related roles over the course of his career, including Board Member of the European Fund and Asset Management Association, Chair of the Malta Asset Servicing Association, Chair of FinanceMalta and Chair of Malita Investments plc. 

He also completed the General Management Program at Harvard Business School.

At Sustainability LIVE: Malta, Kenneth will feature on the Net Zero panel alongside Yasmin Schembri, Senior Consultant at AIS and Antoine Fenech, Audit and Assurance Director at Deloitte.

This panel discussion will highlight the importance of net zero in driving decarbonisation efforts across industries and ensuring businesses and governments align with climate agreements.

Antoine Fenech, Audit and Assurance Director at Deloitte

Antoine Fenech is the Audit and Assurance Director at Deloitte Malta.

He focuses on several areas, including:

  • Assurance-related projects such as ESG reporting and assurance
  • Internal control GAP analysis
  • IFRS training for middle and senior management
  • Impact assessments and implementation projects related to IFRS 15, IFRS 9 and IFRS 16

Antoine is the lead partner for several engagements around carbon footprint, ESG reporting, ESG strategy and ESG assurance and sits on many European internal ESG committees and groups related to ESG Reporting and Assurance. 

He manages the ESG learning programme for the Masters in Accountancy Degree at the University of Malta - where he holds a part-time lecturing position.

Antoine is a co-tutor for the ESG thesis within FEMA and serves as a visiting lecturer at other educational institutions.

He started a 24-month secondment with Deloitte London in September 2016 to provide advisory and audit services to several FTSE, multinational and national insurance and insurance-related services entities.

This panel discussion will highlight how achieving net zero enhances innovation in circular economy models, renewable energy and carbon capture technologies, catalysing the transition to a greener future.

Stefan Farrugia is an innovator with extensive expertise in the tech industry, recognised for championing business intelligence services and driving impactful solutions for clients.

As the CEO of Eunoia, a data and AI company, he is known for his innovative approach to enhancing existing technologies, ensuring client objectives are achieved efficiently and effectively.

Throughout his career, Stefan has designed and launched business intelligence software products that not only streamline compliance and reporting but also support organisations in tracking and improving their environmental and social impact.

Driven by a firm belief in the power of data-driven decision-making, Stefan founded Biagio to help companies meet their net-zero goals by 2050.

By simplifying complex data collection and management, he enables organisations to focus on sustainability initiatives, fostering a future where technological innovation and environmental responsibility go hand in hand.

At Sustainability LIVE: Malta, Stefan will feature on our Sustainability Assurance panel alongside Maria Cauchi Delia, CEO of Malta Institute of Accountants, Stephanie Buhagiar Camilleri, Senior Technical Expert at Malta Financial Services Authority and Norbert Vella, Partner at PwC Malta.

This panel discussion will explore the importance of sustainability assurance in ensuring businesses meet investor, regulatory and consumer expectations while driving impact and verifying the credibility, accuracy and transparency of ESG commitments.

Tobias Kederer, EMEA Head of Sustainability & Migrations/ Modernisation at AWS

Tobias leads the EMEA Sustainability and Migration Practice for Professional Services at AWS.

Not only does his team of experts work alongside enterprise customers to migrate to the cloud and leverage cloud capabilities to innovate but they also accelerate the sustainability transformation of AWS customers through the use of AI, ML and data analytics.

At Sustainability LIVE: Malta, Tobias will deliver an engaging keynote presentation that will explore accelerating sustainability & decarbonisation through the AWS Cloud.
