Joining the speaker lineup for Sustainability LIVE: Malta in 2025, leading executives from Malta ESG Alliance and KPMG Malta

Despite facing significant obstacles to sustainability including limited natural resources, a reliance on energy imports and its vulnerability to climate change, Malta has made significant strides in promoting sustainability. 

Aligning itself with EU directives on environmental protection, sustainable development and the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development – including the 17 SDGs – Malta is dedicated to addressing global challenges such as poverty, inequality, climate change and environmental degradation. 

Heading to Malta for 2025, Sustainability LIVE will host an immersive one-day in-person event at the Mediterranean Conference Centre (MCC) in Valetta on 20 February.

David Xuereb, Chairman at Malta ESG Alliance

An architect and structural engineer, David has led built-environment teams across many parts of the world for more than 30 years. 

Currently supporting a strong, tangible and committed decarbonised economic transition in Malta, David harnesses ESG principles that are impactful and exponential, regenerative and distributive.

Outside of his role as Chairman at Malta ESG Alliance, David lectures at the University of Malta and also chairs the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development (MCESD) The National Productivity Board (NPB), and the Low Wage Commission (LWC).

Rachel Decelis, Associate Director & ESG Lead at KPMG Malta

A chemist and chartered environmentalist, Rachel has more than 18 years of experience in sustainability. Rachel joined KPMG in 2022 as ESG Lead after having worked both in environmental consultancy and regulatory sectors.

Having worked with both public and private sector clients, Rachel specialises in climate change, ESG reporting and environmental permitting in a wide variety of industries including financial services, construction, waste management, energy and manufacturing.

💬 Speaking at Sustainability LIVE: Malta, Rachel will be taking part in the ‘EU Reporting: Driving Sustainability’ panel. During the panel, Rachel will explore the crucial role of EU reporting frameworks in advancing environmental and social objectives.

Alongside the panellists, Rachel will examine how the EU’s rigorous reporting requirements are shaping corporate sustainability practices and driving meaningful change.
