Maninder Singh, CEO of Manzeera Solutions, explores a clear roadmap for navigating ESG challenges at Sustainability LIVE London 2024

Presenting an engaging keynote presentation, Maninder Singh, CEO of Manzeera Solutions, detailed how organisations can simplify sustainability reporting and ESG complexities to achieve meaningful change.

Taking responsibility: A generational challenge

Maninder Singh opens with a stark reminder of the generational responsibility tied to sustainability: “This is the first generation which is facing the impact and change. And this is the last generation that can actually do something about it.”

To illustrate the urgency, Maninder describes his experience in Dubai, contrasting the privilege of global leaders discussing sustainability with the harsh realities faced by everyday individuals. “That’s [climate change] an impact which right now people are facing and we are not far away” he says, highlighting that time is running out to act decisively.

Unpacking the reporting dilemma

Maninder acknowledges the significant pressures companies face from investors, governments and stakeholders to meet complex ESG reporting standards.

He describes how bold corporate targets like achieving net-zero emissions often stall at the first step—data collection and reporting.

“90% of projects get stuck at step one,” he explains, likening it to a funnel where only a fraction of resources lead to real change.

Accelerating progress: A collaborative approach

Singh highlights how the acceleration kit combines technology with pre-built frameworks and alliances to address common roadblocks in sustainability reporting.

A key feature is its ability to seamlessly integrate data from multiple sources, including utilities and enterprise systems like SAP and Oracle.

For example, Maninder shares a success story involving a Spanish bank.

The bank faced challenges decarbonising its operations, specifically reducing vehicle emissions at its headquarters.

The platform also includes predictive analytics and smart recommendations, enabling organisations to implement successful sustainability interventions based on industry best practices. “We need to reverse the stats—move from 90% of resources wasted to 90% being utilised effectively,” Maninder says.

Beyond compliance: Driving real change

Maninder emphasises that technology alone is insufficient without a focus on people and processes. “Culture is the most important part,” he says.

Training and empowering employees to use sustainability tools and frameworks are crucial to ensuring lasting impact.

He closes with a call to action: “Disclosures are just the beginning. The focus must shift to making real change.”

The acceleration kit, he explains, is designed not just to meet regulatory requirements but to catalyse transformation by integrating sustainability into the fabric of an organisation.
