Andrew Todd, Director, Corporates at Verco

Andrew Todd is the Director of the Corporate team at Verco after being in the field of corporate decarbonisation for more than 15 years.

He often utilises his extensive experience in industrial energy efficiency, engineering and process optimisation to speak about corporate energy management and process optimisation.

Andrew works closely with large organisations to drive value and help them overcome their energy and sustainability challenges.

He then identifies and supports companies that wish to implement measures to reduce operational costs and enhance their efficiency.

At Sustainability LIVE: Net Zero, Andrew will share his wealth of knowledge in environmental services to deliver an engaging keynote presentation.

We recently caught up with Andrew to discover what inspired him to get involved with our event, his aims for his keynote presentation and his predictions for the future of the sustainability industry.

What inspired you to get involved in Sustainability LIVE: Net Zero?

Sustainability LIVE: Net Zero is focussing on the route to a carbon-neutral world this year, a cause we at Verco are deeply passionate about.

This important industry event brings together sustainability experts from diverse backgrounds to share innovations and discuss solutions to the challenges of achieving zero carbon. We couldn’t miss it!

Provide an overview of what your keynote will focus on.

Many companies will have set a net zero strategy and most will have an accompanying roadmap.  This is just the starting point of what will be a transformational journey that is complex in many ways.  The complexity arises from the breadth and scale of initiatives that need to be delivered, the multitude of stakeholders involved, and the need for plans to stay up-to-date as businesses evolve.

We will share our insights on how companies can best prepare for the implementation of net zero plans and introduce our new software platform, MyVerco, which serves as a central source of truth for net zero strategies.

What do you hope to achieve through Sustainability LIVE: Net Zero?

The Verco team are looking forward to networking with sustainability professionals and talking about our favourite topic- achieving net zero.

We’re also excited to showcase our new software platform, MyVerco, which consolidates all net zero actions in one place. Please stop by the MyVerco stand to say hello.

On a personal level, the agenda features a fantastic line-up of experts and I’m looking forward to the presentations and panel discussions.

What emerging trends do you believe will shape the future of sustainability over the next decade?

That’s a big question! Here are some key trends I expect to be important over the next 10 years:

  • Comprehensive net zero strategies: Implementing a net zero strategy will impact nearly every business function, involving technical activities, operational adjustments and changes in procurement. We foresee the emergence of net zero delivery managers, responsible for overseeing initiatives across the whole business and ensuring alignment with the net zero strategy
  • Increased sustainability disclosures: We anticipate more detailed and (hopefully) integrated sustainability disclosures. Companies will need granular data to demonstrate their understanding of sustainability impacts. Forward-looking disclosures, such as transition plans, will need to include details on how companies plan to achieve their climate targets, the resources required and associated costs.
  • Integration of climate and nature: While carbon has dominated sustainability discussions in the early 2020s, we expect a more holistic approach in the future. Companies will integrate nature-related considerations into their climate strategies.
