Executives from the University of Leeds, Enel X, The Law Chronicle and the British Army have joined the speaker line-up at Sustainability LIVE: Net Zero

Sustainability LIVE: Net Zero will take place on 5 and 6 March at the QEII Centre.

The two-day, hybrid event will explore how to embark on the route to a carbon-neutral by dissecting the industry’s most notable topics. 

These include the energy transition, sustainable supply chains, green financing and circular economy integration. 

Those who attend will have the opportunity to gain a wealth of knowledge from leading executives from renowned companies, such as British Airways, Siemens Energy, EY and Mitie

Sustainability LIVE: Net Zero will also be co-located with Procurement & Supply Chain LIVE: Sustainability, allowing attendees to explore the fascinating intersection of supply chain management and sustainability.

James Dixon-Gough, Head of Net Zero Strategy at the University of Leeds

James Dixon-Gough is the Head of Net Zero Strategy at the University of Leeds.

He leads the delivery of the University Pathway to Net Zero Emissions by 2030 and significantly helped the development of the University Climate Plan. 

James works alongside the Deputy Director of Development and Net Zero Senior Project Manager to guide the delivery of net zero.

This is supported by a collective of academics, professional services staff, consultants and students. 

Before joining the university, James was a sustainability leader for a commercial property company and worked in energy-related consultancy. 

He also has an MSc in Environmental Architecture. 

At Sustainability LIVE: Net Zero, James will utilise his wealth of knowledge when featuring on a fireside chat.

Dirk Idstein, Managing Director of Enel X Advisory Services Europe

Dirk Idstein, Managing Director of Enel X Advisory Services Europe

Dirk Idstein is the Managing Director of Enel X Advisory Services’ in Europe.

With more than 14 years of expertise in providing energy solutions to corporate clients across Europe, Dirk supports international businesses in their journey to make cost-efficient use of energy and decarbonise. 

Before joining Enel X, he held senior management roles at an enterprise IT services business and worked in management consulting across Europe, US and LATAM for the Siemens Group. 

Dirk graduated as an Industrial Engineer from the Technical University of Berlin and received an MBA at the ESADE Business School in Barcelona.

At Sustainability LIVE: Net Zero, Dirk will feature on The Future of Energy Transition panel alongside Celia Greaves, CEO of The Hydrogen Energy Association and Rhian Kelly, Chief Sustainability Officer at the National Grid.

This panel discussion will explore how to reduce global carbon emissions and combat climate change by catalysing the energy transition.

By utilising innovations in clean energy storage, technologies and infrastructure, we can embark on the movement towards a resilient, low-carbon economy and guarantee long-term environmental sustainability. 

Saffron Gilbert-Kaluba, CEO of The Law Chronicle and UN Ambassador

Saffron Gilbert-Kaluba, CEO of The Law Chronicle and UN Ambassador

Saffron Gilbert-Kaluba is the CEO of The Law Chronicle and a UN Ambassador at the United Nations Net Zero Facility Capital Fund.

She has held several roles during her career, such as founding The Corporate Law Journal, working with the UK Government and HM Treasury, a fellowship at the Royal Academy of Engineering and contributions to the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Entrepreneurship.

Saffron continues to support sustainability as a benchmark with finance to help create a greener future as a Forbes 30 Under 30 honouree.

At Sustainability LIVE: Net Zero, Saffron will feature on the Finance and Stakeholder Engagement’ panel alongside Jane Thostrup Jagd, Director of Net Zero Finance at We Mean Business Coalition, Ben Stone, Group Head of Environmental Sustainability at Kier Group and Toby May, Head of Sustainability Integration at Zurich.

This panel discussion will spotlight the importance finance and stakeholder engagement have in the sustainability industry by providing the collaboration and capital needed to drive change.

Organisations can drive systemic change by ensuring their investments align with ESG principles and foster key partnerships with businesses, governments and communities.

Brigadier Tim Symonds, Head of Climate Change and Sustainability at the British Army

Brigadier Tim Symonds, Head of Climate Change and Sustainability at the British Army

Brigadier Tim Symonds focuses on how to enhance the energy technology revolution to drive competitive advantages as the Head of Climate Change and Sustainability at the British Army.

In 1999, Brigadier Tim was commissioned into the Royal Logistic Corps. In this role, he trained and managed expeditionary logistics personnel.

Tim has been deployed on the port activation in Iraq, the management of helicopter handling operations in Macedonia and supply and distribution operations on three tours of Afghanistan.

He recently has focused on organisational and cultural change in several roles in Army headquarters and in the MOD Main Building in London.

At Sustainability LIVE: Net Zero, Tim will be delivering a keynote presentation titled The British Army - optimising the Energy Technology Revolution for competitive advantage.
