After a booming year for its Bespoke offerings, the automotive leader has entered 2025 with a vision to manufacture even more premium and tailored cars

At its prestigious Goodwood site, Rolls-Royce is ramping up for the future with a commitment of more than £300 million (US$370.6m) to expand its manufacturing facilities.

This move is not just an investment in infrastructure; it's an investment in luxury, sustainability and highly personalised motor cars designed to meet the exacting standards of its elite clientele.

The expansion is about both scaling up and evolving.

As the automotive world pivots to electric, Rolls-Royce is preparing its Goodwood home base to lead this charge.

“In 2024, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars reaffirmed its position as an authentic luxury house by crafting the most complex, personal, and valuable motor cars in its history," says Chris Brownridge, CEO at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.

"This momentum means it is necessary for us to invest more than £300 million in extending the home of Rolls-Royce.

"This represents our most substantial financial commitment to Goodwood since its opening in 2003 and a significant vote of confidence in the Rolls-Royce marque, securing our future here in the UK."

Goodwood: A cornerstone of Rolls-Royce history

Since its inauguration on 1 January 2003, the Goodwood plant has been a linchpin in the Rolls-Royce success story.

Initially housing about 300 employees and producing one car per day, the facility has grown significantly.

In 2025, it boasts a workforce of more than 2,500 and produces up to 28 cars each day.

These employees are not just workers; they are craftsmen and specialists, part of a broader network that includes 7,500 additional personnel across Rolls-Royce’s UK supply chain.

Despite the factory’s expansion and the growth in manpower, the physical footprint of the Goodwood site has remained largely unchanged — until now.

With the latest expansion plans — approved in 2024 during the celebration of the 120th anniversary of the first meeting between founders Charles Rolls and Henry Royce — the stage is set for a new era.

The expansion, featuring new site preparations and landscaping, will allow Rolls-Royce to delve deeper into innovative and intricate motor car projects.

An independent 2023 study by the London School of Economics highlighted Rolls-Royce Motor Cars’ contribution of roughly £500m (US$608m) annually to the UK economy, showcasing its significant role as a luxury leader and economic powerhouse within the region.

New records for Rolls-Royce

The year 2024 was not just another year for Rolls-Royce; it was a milestone year where the Bespoke collective — comprising designers, engineers and craftspeople — outdid themselves.

The company produced not just cars, but movable, bespoke masterpieces.

The value of bespoke content per car surged by 10% from the previous year, reaching new heights.

Each project completed was a testament to the client’s unique personality and vision, transforming individualised luxury into an art form.

The projects varied widely in inspiration and complexity including golden sculptures, detailed wood marquetry and designs featuring more than 869,500 stitches of embroidery.

The Phantom Extended led the charge in terms of Bespoke commissions, followed closely by the newly introduced Spectre model, which itself proved highly popular in Bespoke circles, particularly in its debut year.

The global distribution of Bespoke projects also painted a picture of wide appeal, with the Middle East, North America and Europe leading in terms of Bespoke content value.

Elevating client experiences

Rolls-Royce’s commitment to exceptional client experiences stretches beyond the vehicles themselves.

In 2024, the company expanded its network of private offices with new openings in New York and Seoul joining established centres in Dubai and Shanghai.

These spaces serve as creative sanctuaries where clients collaborate with designers on Bespoke projects, often resulting in final products valued 25% higher than average.

Further enhancing the Bespoke journey, Rolls-Royce dealers globally have refurbished showrooms to provide an even more immersive environment for clients exploring customisation options.

Additionally, the exclusive Whispers application enjoyed a 55% increase in memberships, offering clients privileged access to unique content and opportunities.

Rolls-Royce capped the year with the successful introduction of four new car models and anticipated the launch of an additional electric model slated for 2025, highlighting its continued commitment to innovation and luxury in an evolving automotive landscape.
