With its headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland, US, Constellation Energy is a giant in supplying electric power, natural gas and energy management solutions.
Initially catering to two million subscribers across various sectors including an impressive three-quarters of Fortune 100 companies, this acquisition raises its customer base to more than 2.5 million.
This expansion solidifies its status as the largest competitive retail electricity supplier in the US.
Meet Calpine
Calpine is the top generator of electricity via natural gas and geothermal resources in the US, boasting an operational footprint that reaches 24 states and international markets in Canada and Mexico.
The total generation capacity of its 76 power plants (including those under construction) exceeds 25,000MW.
A flagship facility under Calpine is The Geysers, located in the Mayacamas Mountains north of San Francisco.
This area, the largest complex of geothermal power plants globally, spans 45 square miles along the Sonoma and Lake County border and taps into the earth's natural steam reservoirs.
Enough renewable electricity is generated here to power a city the size of San Francisco.
