UK-based sustainability startup Treefera lands US$30m Series B backing as demand for transparent and resilient global supply chains rises

Treefera, a UK-based sustainability startup, has successfully secured US$30m in its Series B funding round.

Led by Notion Capital and with participation from AlbionVC, Triple Point, Twin Path Ventures and Endeit Capital, this funding aims to enhance Treefera's AI-powered data platform for supply chain transparency across North America, Asia Pacific and Europe.

Treefera aims to provide companies with real-time insights into the origins of goods, addressing the “first-mile” in supply chains.

This initial stage is crucial for meeting regulatory requirements, minimising climate impact and validating sustainability claims with reliable data.

This early stage is also where more than 60% of supply chain risks and costs emerge, yet it is often opaque and under-documented.

AI and satellite imagery

The company's system integrates satellite imagery, adaptive AI and financial-grade risk modelling to create what Treefera refers to as a “data fabric”.

This network aims to transform disorganised, fragmented data into actionable, real-time insights.

Clients benefiting from Treefera’s solutions include Amazon Rainforest Conservation, Royal Family Farms, Kita, Anew, ACCIONA and Maple Credits.

Jonathan Horn, who co-founded the company with Caroline Grey, explains the firm’s motivation: "Our world runs on nature-based commodities, yet information on the physical source of these assets remains largely invisible to the systems that depend on them."

Jonathan Horn, Founder & CEO at Treefera

“Data informs the flow of capital, and at Treefera we equip enterprises with the clarity to strengthen supply chain resilience, secure future revenue and scale the upside of regenerative practices.

"With defensible real-time insights on commodities, ingredients and carbon from the first-mile, businesses can not only have clearer sightlines into sourcing, but mitigate risk and ensure compliance," he continues. "This backing led by Notion Capital enables us to accelerate our mission globally for the benefit of business and planet.”

Funding fuels expansion

The US$30m funding is set to support Treefera's expansion in Europe, North America and the Asia Pacific region.

Beyond geographic expansion, the company plans to introduce new tools for its platform, including real-time commodity tracking, advancements in geospatial analytics and automated regulatory compliance systems.

These developments aim to provide users with the means to respond promptly and accurately to evolving legal, environmental and trade demands.

"Treefera’s team has built a category-defining platform at the intersection of AI, data and supply chain transparency," says Patrick Norris, General Partner at Notion Capital.

"In less than a year, Treefera has established itself as the trusted partner for enterprises navigating supply chain risks and carbon obligations. We are thrilled to be leading this round and support their vision to make resilient, decarbonised supply chains the global standard, underpinned by an approach that champions efficiency without compromise."

This Series B raise follows US$12m in Series A funding and US$2.2m from earlier pre-seed rounds, marking a steady climb for the company since its founding.

Horn and Grey, a husband-and-wife team, launched Treefera with the aim of bringing greater transparency and accountability to global trade routes by providing high-quality data right from the point of origin.

Innovative climate tech solutions

As the importance of ESG compliance increases, Treefera hopes to position itself as a practical solution, converting sustainability commitments into measurable results.

Its team of scientists, technologists and supply chain experts equips enterprises with the necessary tools to comply with regulations while managing environmental and trade risks.

Treefera’s platform is designed with energy efficiency in mind.

By utilising decentralised networks and “opportunistic computing,” it reduces both computational costs and its environmental footprint.

Sara Resvik, Partner at Endeit Capital, says: “What makes Treefera exceptional is their ability to translate massive supply chain datasets into actionable climate insights.

"Their unique methodology aligns strongly with our investment focus on climate tech, and we're proud to partner with them in their mission to provide enterprises with AI-powered supply chain transparency and decarbonisation solutions.”

Treefera continues to gain traction with industries looking to validate projects faster and improve transparency.
