Sustainability LIVE will be in Chicago for the first time in 2025
Sustainability LIVE will open its doors to experts from across industries in the business driven and future focussed city of Chicago, Illinois

Chicago is undoubtedly a global business centre, home to Fortune 500 companies like United Airlines, Kraft Heinz, McDonald’s and many more.

The city also has some impressive sustainability measures, including powering all city-owned buildings with 100% renewable energy.

“Chicago is committed to taking bold steps as the world faces climate crises,” said Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson.

“With this transition to renewable energy, we are achieving a goal that the City has been working towards for years and fulfilling a promise to Chicagoans via the creation of clean jobs and meaningful progress toward a sustainable future.”

A city bustling with business and focussed on the future just makes sense for Sustainability LIVE.

Sustainability LIVE Chicago 2025 will be taking place on 28 and 29 May at Convene Willis Tower.

Chicago's commitment to sustainability

Through community-driven initiatives, green architecture and innovative policies, Chicago has secured its position as a sustainability leader.

In 2022, Chicago released its Climate Action Plan, which stated how the city will reduce its carbon emissions by 62% by 2040.

The plan details Chicago’s climate strategies that will help drive equity and economic inclusion, reduce the pollution burden, enhance equitable access to critical infrastructure and improve community health and resiliency.

By implementing this plan, Chicago strives to achieve several ambitious targets by 2040, including:

  • Divert 90% of residential waste
  • Create 2,500 new public passenger electric vehicle charging stations
  • Enable 100% electrification of delivery fleets
  • Achieve 100% clean renewable energy community-wide
  • Enable Chicagoans to walk, bike, take transit or use shared micro-mobility for 45% of all trips
