Efficiency meets sustainability in logistics

SOPREMA, rapidly expanding within the UK's construction sector, will have its distribution needs across the region expertly managed by XPO. This includes the coordination of various transport requirements such as mechanical off-loads and groupage shipments, crucial for SOPREMA's subsidiaries namely Celotex, YBS Insulation, and Chesterfelt.

Utilising its robust 4PL expertise, XPO intends to streamline SOPREMA's material flow, crucial for maintaining both cost efficiency and high quality—key factors in SOPREMA’s market success. A dedicated core fleet composed of 23 trucks and 47 trailers, all branded with SOPREMA’s livery, will primarily manage these tasks. Additionally, a blend of haulier partnerships and pallet network services will complement the logistics framework to bolster operations at SOPREMA’s five UK locations

Dan Myers, XPO Logistics’ Managing Director for the UK and Ireland

Dan Myers, XPO Logistics’ Managing Director for the UK and Ireland, highlights the organisation's shared priorities: “The SOPREMA Group and XPO Logistics have a shared aim to drive measurable improvement across all aspects of operations.

"Working together, I'm confident our teams will create a high-performing partnership that delivers for all SOPREMA’s stakeholders over the short and long term.”

Sustainability at the core

Primarily serving as a holistic logistics hub for SOPREMA, XPO’s advanced IT infrastructure was key in solidifying this partnership. These systems align well with SOPREMA’s goals, particularly in enhancing customer experience and supporting its commitment to slashing carbon emissions.

A pivotal initiative within this partnership is the transition of XPO’s fleet, involved in SOPREMA operations, to use hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) fuel by 2025. This fuel is a renewable substitute significantly curtailing CO2 emissions compared to traditional diesel. To complement this, XPO will deploy a bespoke CO2 dashboard, aimed at providing real-time data on emissions, which will help SOPREMA efficiently monitor its progress toward achieving its sustainability goals.
