Your Guide to London Climate Action Week 2025

London Climate Action Week (LCAW) is one of the worldâs largest and most influential climate events, uniquely harnessing the power of Londonâs diverse ecosystem to accelerate both local and global climate action.
As LCAW 2025 approaches, hereâs everything you need to know about its history, this yearâs themes and how you can get involved.
The history of LCAW
LCAW was founded in 2019 by E3G in partnership with the Mayor of London, born from a vision to leverage Londonâs global standing and vibrant diversity for climate leadership.
âThe climate crisis is the biggest challenge we face, and the battle for survival in which we are now engaged will be won or lost in our cities,â says London Mayor Sadiq Khan.
The event’s ethos is rooted in collective action and public good, shaped through consultation with hundreds of stakeholders.
Since its inception, LCAW has grown into Europe’s largest city-wide climate festival, attracting more than 45,000 attendees annually and hosting more than 300 in-person and virtual events.
From the outset, LCAW set out to be more than just a forum for policymakers and professionals. Organisers have worked to ensure the week reflects London’s rich history and diversity, engaging communities across faith, arts, sports, education and business. This broad engagement is designed to foster the social consensus and innovation required for deep, systemic change.
Themes and focuses for 2025
LCAW 2025, running from 21–29 June, will continue its mission to mobilise London and the world for urgent climate action.
Each year, the week’s programming is structured around key themes that reflect both the current climate landscape and the evolving needs of society.
Key themes for 2025:
Net zero and resilience: Accelerating the transition to a net zero London and UK, with a focus on building resilience to climate impacts, especially for vulnerable communities.
Global leadership: Shaping international climate diplomacy and supporting the path to COP summits, with London as a hub for global climate policy and innovation.
Inclusive transition: Ensuring the climate transition is just and inclusive, engaging London’s diverse communities and addressing social equity.
Innovation and finance: Showcasing solutions in clean technology, green finance, and sustainable business strategies, with events like the flagship Climate Innovation Forum drawing global leaders and innovators.
Community engagement: Empowering local action through education, arts, sports, and grassroots initiatives, connecting the climate agenda to the daily lives of Londoners.
What to expect at LCAW 2025
LCAW’s open and decentralised format allows hundreds of organisations, from major institutions to grassroots groups, to host their own events. The week features keynote summits, panel discussions, workshops, cultural activities and networking opportunities, both in-person and online.
The Climate Innovation Forum remains a flagship event, convening policymakers, business leaders, and activists to discuss the latest in climate innovation and policy.
Past editions have featured the activation of the Climate Clock, symbolising the urgency of collective action, and have drawn high-profile attendees including the Mayor of London and members of the Royal Family.
How to get involved
Participation in LCAW is open to all. Anyone can register or host an event, with the official programme listing both public and private sessions. Most events are free, making it accessible for individuals, businesses, and communities to engage, learn, and contribute to climate solutions.
Whether you’re a climate professional, business leader, student, or concerned citizen, LCAW offers a platform to connect, collaborate and drive meaningful change.
As climate impacts intensify, the need for coordinated, ambitious action has never been greater. LCAW not only galvanises London’s leadership but also inspires other global cities to follow suit.
“London Climate Action Week is about harnessing the power of London for global climate action,” Sadiq says.
By bridging local realities and global ambitions, LCAW 2025 is set to be a pivotal moment in the journey towards a sustainable, resilient future for all.
