Datacloud Global Congress returns to Cannes next month for its 20th anniversary, with sustainability positioned as a central focus for the data centre industry event taking place from 3-5 June 2025.

The congress, organised by techoraco, will be held at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, bringing together professionals from data centres, cloud infrastructure, edge computing and artificial intelligence sectors to address pressing environmental challenges.

Amid growing concerns about the environmental impact of data centres, particularly as AI adoption accelerates power demands, the event aims to facilitate discussions between technology leaders and sustainability professionals to develop practical solutions for reducing carbon footprints while meeting digital infrastructure needs.

How Datacloud hopes to address critical sustainability concerns

The congress will open with a keynote panel featuring industry veterans including Susanna Kass, Val Walsh, VP at Microsoft and Otto Kreiter, Director Global Infrastructure at Google.

The panel will explore challenges around global scaling of data infrastructure in the AI era while addressing sustainability concerns.

A persistent issue also facing the data centre industry is the shortage of sustainability talent, which will be examined through discussions about recruitment, training and retention strategies. The panel will assess how organisations can build teams with the necessary expertise to implement effective environmental practices.

Datacloud comes at a crucial time as the industry faces mounting pressure to reduce emissions while supporting exponential growth in data processing requirements driven by AI applications.
