Makersite raises €60m to help manufacturers like Microsoft & Schneider Electric design safer, more sustainable products through AI-powered analytics

Makersite's Product Lifecycle Intelligence platform effectively integrates financial, environmental, and risk analytics, empowering manufacturers to craft products that prioritise safety, cost efficiency and environmental sustainability.

The platform's robust analytics offer comprehensive insight into supply chain operations, providing a foundation for informed decision-making throughout the product development lifecycle.

With a substantial €60 million (approx US$70.2m) in Series B funding secured, Makersite is set to further its goal of redefining manufacturing standards to enhance affordability, safety and environmental responsibility through intelligent automation and extensive product knowledge.

Neil D'Souza, CEO and Founder of Makersite, says: "This investment marks a critical milestone in our mission to make sustainable product design the default.

"Securing this level of commitment—especially in today's uncertain economic and geopolitical environment—demonstrates the strength of our business case and the urgency of our mission. The funding will allow us to accelerate platform development, deepen integration with our technology partners and scale our impact globally."

Prominent manufacturers adopt the platform

The influx of funds is instrumental in propelling the development of Makersite's platform while also enhancing its technology infrastructure and expanding its workforce.

This growth is driven by emerging adoption trends among top manufacturers including Microsoft, Daikin, Cummins, Barco and Schneider Electric. These companies utilise Makersite to optimise product strategies and supply chain management.

The funding round was co-led by Lightrock and Partech, with participation from SE Ventures, and complete involvement from Makersite's Series A investors such as Hitachi Ventures, KOMPAS VC, Translink Capital and Planet A.

Julien Cristiani, General Partner at SE Ventures, says: "We were impressed by the Makersite team's expertise in lifecycle and supply chain intelligence.

"Their domain knowledge, combined with a clear execution track record, stood out immediately. What sealed our conviction was the company's growth and the level of automation they've achieved – being able to process thousands of SKUs with such speed and precision is a game-changer for supply chain visibility and sustainable product development at scale."

AI-driven insights deliver strategic advantage

Through its AI-driven platform, Makersite endows manufacturers with profound insights into their supply chains by refining product data. AI is instrumental in connecting and structuring fragmented data, turning it into a coherent and valuable asset.

This enriched dataset - together with Makersite's proprietary information, widely regarded as a leading source of supply chain data - provides valuable details on material composition, costs, environmental footprints, regulatory statuses and more.

Makersite offers robust tools and integration capabilities allowing cross-functional teams to assess design and procurement decisions in real-time. Furthermore, the platform supports performance reporting, thereby aiding customers in communicating critical metrics - cost, carbon emissions, product compliance, and risk - to stakeholders, clients and regulatory bodies.

Makersite, with a dedicated team of more than 150 professionals, empowers major manufacturers, including Microsoft, Daikin, Cummins, Barco and Schneider Electric, to design safer, more sustainable and compliant products.

The platform's efficacy is evident: Microsoft has notably reduced its Surface Pro 10 laptop's carbon footprint by up to 28% within two years, while Schneider Electric plans to leverage Makersite to extend EPD and eco-design across more than 200,000 stock keeping units (SKUs).

Schneider Electric's Chief Digital Officer, Peter Weckesser

Schneider Electric's Chief Digital Officer, Peter Weckesser, adds: "Partnering with Makersite gives our teams and customers unparalleled insight into the environmental impact of products, accelerating our journey toward net zero and setting new benchmarks for resilience and innovation."

Balancing sustainability as a strategic trade-off

The Makersite platform seamlessly integrates with prominent product lifecycle management (PLM) systems, like Siemens Teamcenter software and PTC Windchill, as well as design tools such as Ansys and Autodesk that manufacturers frequently use.

"Our commitment to Makersite reflects our strong confidence in their vision and their unique approach - treating sustainability as a balanced trade-off between cost, safety and environmental performance, rather than simply a 'green' checkbox," says Chris Steinau, Partner at Lightrock.

"Makersite's outstanding technology and clear market traction position them as a future leader in helping manufacturers navigate today's complex challenges and deliver real, measurable impact."

The demand for tools like Makersite stems from a highly competitive manufacturing sector and growing corporate pressure to address greenhouse gas emissions.

Moreover, as regulatory demands and stakeholder expectations increase, manufacturers are actively exploring methods to meet new standards while revisiting and restructuring their supply chains to enhance resilience and mitigate supply chain risks.

Arnaud Minvielle, General Partners at Partech

Arnaud Minvielle and Remi Said, General Partners at Partech, adds: "We are very honoured and proud to invest in this global impact champion. "We have very strong convictions on Makersite's product superiority, the depth of its market where R&D and complex purchasing can be transformed through accelerated insight generation and the exceptional talent of Neil and his team.

"We believe that we can support Makersite in its next S-curve, alongside Lightrock and other shareholders."
