Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise and Nokia unite fibre-based campus networks with OT-ready automation to boost supply chain resilience and efficiency

The enterprise networking industry is under rising pressure to deliver infrastructure that supports digital transformation while meeting sustainability and resilience goals.

Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise (ALE) and Nokia have strengthened their strategic alliance to meet this challenge, combining advanced optical fibre technology with secure campus networking to serve critical industries navigating these evolving demands.

The collaboration integrates Nokia's high-capacity Optical LAN with ALE's enterprise networking solutions, establishing fibre-based infrastructure capable of multi-gigabit data speeds in complex environments.

Recent implementations at Ikos Resorts in Greece, Pantai Jerudong Hospital in Brunei, and Wembley Park in the UK highlight how this combined approach is meeting the evolving needs of modern campus networks.

This development marks a significant milestone in the companies’ five-year partnership, adding to earlier deployments at major infrastructure projects such as Grand Paris Express, Montreal Railways, and Okada Manila Resort.

Nokia’s Optical LAN delivers fibre-based networks designed to support escalating bandwidth demands for on-site devices and applications. When integrated into ALE’s comprehensive enterprise connectivity portfolio for in-building and campus networks, the solution offers benefits including reduced energy use and lower total cost of ownership.

ALE’s advanced LAN and Wi-Fi provide automated, secure onboarding for devices, supported by asset discovery, classification, virtual segmentation and continuous monitoring capabilities. Features include Layer 2 services, HPOE, and optional redundant uplinks.

Optimised energy consumption

This integration offers particular advantages for logistics and infrastructure sectors, enabling reduced energy consumption alongside mission-critical reliability for automated warehouses and transport networks. Through features like automated asset discovery and virtual segmentation, organisations can modernise their operational technology securely while maintaining resilient connectivity for the complex device networks powering today’s supply chains.

"By combining ALE's agile enterprise networking solutions with Nokia's carrier-grade infrastructure, we offer a comprehensive portfolio that addresses the unique needs of critical industries," says Sandrine El Khodry, EVP Global Sales & Marketing at Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise.

"Our partnership is built on trust, innovation and a shared commitment to customer success."

Hospitality sector implementation

The partnership has also driven adoption across complex settings such as hospitality, where resorts like Ikos use the combined network solution to connect hundreds of guest rooms across luxury all-inclusive properties.

With Nokia and ALE technology, Ikos operates guest services, CCTV, voice, Wi-Fi, and building safety sensors via a single, high-availability network architecture. The fibre infrastructure saves space and reduces the number of required network layers.

"Our collaboration with Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise allows us to deliver end-to-end, mission-critical solutions that go beyond traditional boundaries," says Matthieu Bourguignon, Senior Vice-President, Head of Europe at Nokia.

"We are proud of the joint successes we've achieved and look forward to enabling even more transformative projects together."

Global market leadership position

As global leaders in optical fibre and enterprise networking, Nokia and ALE have implemented their joint solution across more than 100 enterprises worldwide, demonstrating success across multiple sectors and regions.

This partnership positions both companies to meet the growing needs of critical industries seeking resilient, sustainable infrastructure that supports digital transformation while maintaining operational stability.

The combined solution meets surging bandwidth demands and reduces environmental impact through energy-efficient, fibre-based architecture — helping organisations balance performance with sustainability objectives across their networks.
