The pharmaceutical giant's performance throughout 2025 could signal a transformative period for the business, marked by portfolio expansion, accelerated drug discovery processes and a deepening commitment to sustainable practices.

The annual review shows these developments have positioned Eli Lilly to serve a growing patient population whilst advancing its scientific capabilities across multiple therapeutic areas.

Portfolio expansion and innovation

During 2025, Eli Lilly strengthened its presence in oncology and immunology through strategic product launches and regulatory approvals.

The company introduced Inluriyo, a breast cancer treatment, whilst securing an additional indication for Omvoh in the management of Crohn's disease.

These additions could broaden the company's treatment options for patients facing serious health conditions.

The organisation also finalised the international distribution of Mounjaro and submitted orforglipron, its first oral GLP-1 therapy, for regulatory approval in the United States and 40 additional countries.

These moves could expand patient access to newer treatment modalities across diverse markets.

Eli Lilly invested in accelerating its drug discovery timeline by expanding manufacturing platforms, including genetic medicines, siRNA and antibody-drug conjugates.

David A. Ricks, Chair and CEO of Eli Lilly, says: "2025 was an important year for Lilly and for the patients we serve.

Environmental and accessibility commitments

Sustainability remained integral to Eli Lilly's operational strategy throughout 2025.

The company established new access pathways, including arrangements to increase the availability of obesity treatments through programmes operating across the United States.

These initiatives could help address barriers to treatment access for patients requiring these medications.

The business focused on developing its direct-to-patient distribution models, which could enhance consumer choice whilst improving affordability.

Company data shows more than one million people in the United States utilised Lilly Direct during 2025, a platform offering transparent pricing and alternative care location services.

The organisation is working to scale this patient-focused approach internationally by collaborating with employers and insurance providers.

In terms of environmental performance, Eli Lilly generated and procured approximately 80% of its electricity from renewable sources throughout 2025.

Financial results and pipeline development

The company's tirzepatide molecule, marketed as Mounjaro and Zepbound, emerged as one of the world's best-selling prescription medicines throughout the year.

The treatment has been prescribed to support individuals managing type 2 diabetes, obesity and obstructive sleep apnoea.

The organisation's late-stage development pipeline progressed substantially in 2025, with more than 25 Phase 3 trials delivering positive outcomes.

Eli Lilly initiated 12 additional Phase 3 programmes across its therapeutic focus areas, including potential treatments for cardiovascular disease and non-small cell lung cancer.

David says: "As we approach Lilly's 150th anniversary in 2026, we honour our history while focusing on the opportunities that lie ahead.

"With scientific strength, growing scale and sustained investment in new medicines, we are determined to build on a legacy defined by improving outcomes for patients."
