Google has announced a US$9bn investment in South Carolina until 2027 - a move that aims to expand its data centre infrastructure while aligning with the growing demand for sustainable technology.

The initiative will see an expansion of Google’s existing Berkeley County data centre campus and support the construction of two additional facilities in Dorchester County.

This development is designed to increase Google’s capacity to deliver AI-driven services and cloud computing.

A new Google.org grant to the Electrical Training Alliance (etA) will integrate AI tools into the alliance’s curriculum.

This initiative aims to help train more than 160 apprentices for careers in the state's technology and energy industries.

By collaborating with regional training bodies, Google aims to create pathways into skilled careers that support the wider AI and data infrastructure ecosystem.
