Mitie has released its 2025 ESG report, outlining how it bypassed several targets in its social value and environmental goals

Mitie is a British based strategic outsourcing and energy service.

The company has been placed in the top 2% of more than 22,7000 global environmental disclosures by the CDP Climate A list for two years running.

Its 2025 ESG report outlines the progress the company has made in its social value and environmental goals in the past year.

Key takeaways from the report

The company reports that it has completed phase 1 of its Plan Zero initiative by bringing its net Scope 1 and 2 emissions down by 22%.

A total of 6,255 electric vehicles (EVs) make up 74% of its UK fleet and paving the way to Mitie's goal of reaching net zero by 2025.

The company operates 16 completely decarbonised buildings and uses 100% renewable energy for all its sites.

“With the completion of Phase 1, we mark a significant milestone in our journey, demonstrating our unwavering commitment to decarbonisation, even as the scale and complexity of our operations have grown.”

Mitie embeds sustainability across its supply chain by reducing supply chain emissions by 6% and embedding 550 suppliers.

More than half of Mitie's procurement spend is now covered by the Supplier Management Programme which includes sustainability score cards, ethical sourcing checks and digital engagement through its Coupa platform.

Focussing on people

Mitie has more than 90 technical, professional and managerial programmes which hosts more than 1500 apprentices.

The programmes aim to develop skills in pump engineering, data technology, security, business administration and project management.

The company has also pledged more than US$2.9m into the Apprenticeship Levy that supports 150 apprentices across 35 organisations outside of Mitie.

Colleagues volunteered for a collective 32,512 hours following Mitie’s Giving Back programme.

Mitie also introduced 1,008 prison leavers to local employers and supported 495 people through its Ready2Work scheme.

The company launched Plan Thrive pleading to uplift one million lives and enable 1,000 places to prosper.
