Chinese automaker BYD has become Official Automotive Partner of English football club Manchester City to help build a sustainable future

BYD, the global leader in electric vehicle manufacturing, has entered into a partnership with Manchester City Football Club as the club's Official Automotive Partner.

The collaboration will unite the Chinese technology company with the Premier League club through what both describe as a mutual commitment to advancing sustainability.

According to BYD, the partnership adopts a comprehensive 360-degree approach that could reflect the BYD Group's diverse innovation capabilities.

What the partnership includes

The agreement extends beyond simple branding, with BYD and DENZA vehicles set to be supplied to Manchester City.

BYD Group will also deploy its new-energy technology at the City Football Academy, the training and development facility used by the club's men's, women's and academy teams, through vehicle charging infrastructure and energy-storage batteries.

BYD's branding will appear on the training kit sleeve of the men's first team, with the women's first team set to feature the logo from next season.

The brand's presence will also extend to the Etihad Stadium, Manchester City's home ground, where it will feature on the headrests in the dugout area.

Additionally, one of the company's vehicles will lead the official Manchester City men's first team bus into the stadium for Premier League and domestic cup home fixtures.

Building a global football presence

The partnership could represent another milestone in BYD's approach to establishing itself within international football as a means of enhancing brand awareness for its cars and technology products.

The company has previously served as the official sponsor of UEFA EURO 2024 and the UEFA European Under-21 Championship 2025.

Stella Li, BYD Executive Vice President, says: "Manchester City stands for excellence, innovation and the courage to push beyond limits – values that are deeply rooted in BYD's DNA.

"This partnership is about more than football or mobility; it is about inspiring people around the world through technology that excites, connects and drives a more sustainable future. When innovation meets passion, the impact is truly global."
