Polestar's 34% Sales Growth: Rise in EV Demand

Polestar's commitment to sustainability appears to be resonating with consumers, as the Swedish electric vehicle manufacturer reported a 34% increase in sales, according to the company's latest figures.
The company delivered 60,119 cars despite challenging market conditions, suggesting that its focus on zero-emission mobility could be gaining traction among environmentally conscious buyers.
In a notable achievement for sustainable transport, Polestar sold more electric vehicles in Europe than Porsche, potentially indicating a shift in consumer preferences towards purely electric offerings.
The performance comes as the company continues to expand its presence across key markets while maintaining its environmental commitments.
"We are gaining market share and outselling many established car brands across key European markets," says Michael Lohscheller, CEO of Polestar.
"This is a testament to the expansion of our sales network, which has grown by over 50% this year, our attractive model line-up and the team's hard work."
In its marketing materials, the company frames its offering around environmental choice, saying: "Choose the past, with all the noise, outdated technology and exhaust fumes that come with it, or choose Polestar."
UK market shows strongest sustainable vehicle adoption
The company's sustainability-focused strategy has proved particularly effective in the UK, where Polestar became the fastest growing premium brand.
The market delivered 16,959 vehicles, representing 95% growth and potentially reflecting increasing appetite for premium electric mobility solutions.
Matt Galvin, Managing Director of Polestar UK, says: "2025 has been a hugely successful year for Polestar in the UK.
The brand has grown 95% outgrowing many traditional original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and is officially the fastest growing premium brand in the UK selling 16,959 cars."
He attributes this success to new models including Polestar 3 and 4, alongside continued demand for Polestar 2 from both fleet and private customers.
The company's UK retail network has expanded to 15 locations nationwide.
Looking forward, Matt adds: "In 2026 we look forward to launching the new updated Polestar 3 with 800V architecture and of course the highly anticipated Polestar 5; our performance Grand Tourer."
German expansion supports European sustainability goals
Germany represents a crucial market for Polestar's sustainable transport ambitions, despite fierce competition from established manufacturers.
The company achieved 60% growth in the country, while increasing brand awareness from 30% to 38% through initiatives including a partnership with Borussia Dortmund.
According to Polestar, the German market is "both highly competitive and strategically crucial" as Europe's largest automotive market.
The company plans to expand its sales points from 11 to 30 by 2027, working alongside Volvo retail partners.
The manufacturer's environmental commitments extend beyond zero-emission vehicles to encompass its entire value chain.
Polestar has established targets to halve greenhouse gas emissions per vehicle sold by 2030 and achieve climate neutrality across its operations by 2040.
Headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden, Polestar currently offers four models: Polestar 2, 3, 4 and 5. Future planned vehicles include the Polestar 7 compact SUV, scheduled for 2028, and the Polestar 6 roadster.
Production of the Polestar 7 is planned for Europe, which could diversify the company's manufacturing footprint beyond current facilities in North America and Asia.
The company describes itself as having a "focus on uncompromised design and innovation and the ambition to accelerate the change towards a sustainable future", with vehicles currently available across 28 markets in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific.
