Fifth Third focuses on three pillars in its strategy: supporting a sustainable transition, managing climate-related risks and reducing its own footprint.

Of its US$100bn impact finance target, US$45.3bn delivered by the end of 2024.

It has also made progress, and in some cases achieved, many of its goals:

  • Energy use reduced by 46%
  • Location-based greenhouse gas emissions reduced by 60%
  • Water use reduced by 34%, on track to achieve 50%
  • Nearly 60% of waste diverted, on track to achieve 75%
  • Paper use reduced by 65%

Fifth Third also completed 17 rooftop solar panel installations at new financial centres in 2024.

“In 2025, we are sustaining that positive momentum as we remain focused on major sustainability priorities,” Pratik said in its 2024 Sustainability Report.

“Ultimately, our goal is to deliver the best possible results for our customers, communities, employees and investors every day.”

Fifth Third announced its US$100bn environmental and social finance target on the release of its 2021 ESG report.

The goal is an expansion of its original US$8bn target that was achieved ahead of schedule.
