Terraformation Recognised For Sustainable Innovations
The Global Sustainability Awards were hosted by BizClik on Wednesday 11 September, recognising some of the top companies globally for contributions to sustainable solutions.
Terraformation was awarded the SME Company of the Year Award alongside the Sustainable Technology Award at the event.
Forests cover nearly one third of land in the world and are essential to human health, purifying water and air, according to the WWF.
The organisation says that forests around the planet are under threat due to deforestation and degradation.
TerraFormation was founded by Yishan Wong and focuses on global reforestation and restoration from its base in Hawaii.
Why did TerraFormation receive these awards?
TerraFormation promotes reforestation by using seed banks, nursery kits, solar-powered desalination and technology enables support.
It has been recognised for using measurable ESG impact and innovative technology to advance global reforestation.
Alongside developing technology, the company pioneers programmes supporting local and indigenous communities, creating jobs and incubating restoration projects around the world.
The company has also developed its own platform, Terraware, which allows foresters to track, manage and scale biodiverse projects.
This platform enables more transparency and drives long term social, environmental and economic benefits.

What was the award criteria?
The awards followed specific criteria that the companies needed to hit, for both awards the criteria was based around four key elements.
The main criteria for the company of the year award includes:
- How the company contributes to broader environmental and social responsibility goals
- What way the company prioritises stakeholder engagement and community impact
- What the company has done to foster innovation and adaptability in its sustainability strategy
- Any outstanding sustainability metrics that demonstrate the company’s success in integrating ESG principles into operations.
For the technology awards companies were assessed on what technologies the company manufactured to generate sustainable impacts, the success of the technology, measurable impacts the technology makes and the application for the technology in the future.
All areas of assessments were marked out of 10, ranging from no information in the sector to exceptional performance in the category.

The Sustainability Awards followed on from a two day event, Sustainability LIVE.
The awards were hosted in London and recognised the most pioneering, purpose driven and impactful individuals and organisations that champion sustainability on a global scale.
