VINCI Group’s Facilities division has reduced its direct CO₂ emissions by nearly 30% since 2018 and aims to reach net zero by 2050

VINCI Facilities provides facilities management and building solutions across 18 countries in Europe and Morocco.

This includes maintaining more than 10,000 facilities management sites.

Using a people-first approach, the company says it is focussed on working safely, reducing carbon, driving innovation and creating long-term value.

“Sustainability is at the forefront of what VINCI Facilities bring to our clients,” explains Peter Egan, Head of Sustainability and Innovation at VINCI Facilities Defence.

Peter is set to give a keynote presentation at Sustainability LIVE: The Net Zero Summit.

He explains: “I am looking forward to speaking with likeminded individuals and learning how other sector areas are addressing this challenge both in the UK and international, while engaging with organisations to see how we all can integrate increased levels of professionalism within our workforces and resilience into our estates.”

ESG at VINCI Facilities

In the UK, VINCI Facilities’ direction is guided by its VMOST governance framework that covers Vision, Mission, Objectives, Strategy and Tactics.

Its 2024 ESG report says that the company’s ambitions focus on three pillars:

  • People and wellbeing
  • Sustainability and net zero
  • Data and digitalisation.

Since 2018 the company says it has reduced its direct CO₂ emissions by nearly 30% and it is working toward achieving zero waste to landfill by 2030.

In 2024, electric cars made up 58% of the company’s total car fleet and it is investing in micro EV vans on its larger sites.

VINCI Facilities also looks to partner with social enterprises including Recycling Lives, a charity tackling homelessness and reoffending by providing stable housing and employment.

The company has made donations to Recycling Lives’ prison programmes and actively promotes its waste management services as a preferred supplier.

VINCI Facilities’ Scope 3 impact

Since 2022, VINCI Facilities has been working towards the ISO 20400 Sustainable Procurement standard to support sustainability in its supply chain.

It has partnered with the Supply Chain Sustainability School to provide its supply chain with access to a free carbon calculator which 54% of its targeted suppliers used to report their 2023 emissions.

VINCI Facilities’ Supply Chain Sustainability Matrix has also been developed into an online tool through the School’s platform to adapt a qualitative approach to assessing its supply chain’s sustainability maturity.

The company hopes this will support Scope 3 emissions reporting and help to reduce overall environmental impact.
