Apple recently disclosed that Sabih Khan will be taking over as Chief Operating Officer, a strategic move within the company's leadership aimed at enhancing its commitments to sustainable practices.

Sabih, transitioning from his role as Senior Vice President, assumes responsibility for steering Apple's operational strategies towards sustainability. This transition comes as CEO Tim Cook continues to oversee key divisions, including design and wearables, until Sabih fully settles into his new role.

Who is Sabih Khan?

Having joined Apple in 1995, Sabih has devoted nearly three decades to the tech giant, steadily advancing to his recent position as Senior Vice President of Operations. His leadership has been critical in sculpting Apple’s global supply chain, with a particular emphasis on integrating sustainable manufacturing practices.

Sabih's tenure in supply chain management has centered on improving product quality and ensuring the company's resource conservation goals align with its wider environmental objectives. This dedication to sustainability is echoed by Tim Cook's recognition of Sabih as a visionary strategist who has adeptly managed Apple's supply chain and production process enhancements.

"Sabih is a brilliant strategist who has been one of the central architects of Apple's supply chain," says Tim Cook.

"While overseeing Apple's supply chain, he has helped pioneer new technologies in advanced manufacturing, overseen the expansion of Apple's manufacturing footprint in the United States and helped ensure that Apple can be nimble in response to global challenges."

Under Sabih's stewardship, Apple has actively pursued environmental responsibility by significantly reducing its carbon footprint. The operations team has managed a 60% decrease in emissions, an achievement reached through meaningful collaboration with eco-conscious suppliers. Sabih's educational background in economics and mechanical engineering, combined with his early career in engineering at GE Plastics, underscores his aptitude for leading Apple in its mission to merge technological innovation with sustainability.
