What Will Cheh Hsien Lee Bring to Singtel in His New Role?

The Singtel Group is Asia’s leading communications technology group, providing a range of services including fixed, mobile, data, internet and digital solutions.
It has announced the appointment of Cheh Hsien Lee as Vice President of Global Sustainability, who joins the company from Sentosa Development Corporation.
He is taking over from Andrew Buay, who is moving on from Singtel after 13 years with the company.
Cheh Hsien Lee’s career history
Cheh Hsien began his career as General Manager, Enterprise Risk, Planning and Communications at Ezra Holdings, joining in 2007.
He stayed at the company for eight years before joining F&N Foods in 2016.
Cheh Hsien first joined Sentosa Development Corporation in 2019 as a Corporate Planning Division Director.
He became Assistant Chief Executive of Corporate and Sustainability at Sentosa in 2024, holding the position until April 2026.
Cheh Hsien said on LinkedIn: “30th April marked my last day at SDC after a good seven years, but the memories will stay on, for sure.
“I always say to people I’ve met that I’ve seen three Sentosas: the pre-COVID version, the COVID version and the post-COVID version. I’ve witnessed the best of SDC throughout all the three periods through you and the projects we carry through, big and small.
“The deep sense of love and stewardship of the island, the willingness to sweat through every detail in pursuit of operational and experience excellence, the sincere care for our guests and one another, spurred by the desire for success that matters through good times and bad, makes me super proud to be part of the Sentosian family.”

Stepping into a new role
Cheh Hsien is taking over the role of Vice President, Group Sustainability at Singtel from Andrew Buay, who has concluded his 13-year tenure at the company.
Andrew joined the company in 2011 as Chief Information Officer.
He originated the role of VP Group Sustainability at Singtel, starting the position in May 2013.
During his tenure, he helped position Singtel as the first company in the Asia Pacific region (excluding Japan) to receive SBTi-approved carbon emission and net zero targets in 2017.
In the role, Cheh Hsien will build on the foundations set by Andrew, guiding the company on its path to net zero by integrating its ESG strategy into operations.
Andrew writes on LinkedIn: “It is my pleasure to announce the appointment of Cheh Hsien Lee as Vice President of Group Sustainability at Singtel from 4 May 2026.
“Cheh Hsien brings a breadth of diverse and complementary experience to the role and was previously Assistant Chief Executive of Corporate and Sustainability at Sentosa Development Corporation.
“It is not an easy decision to leave a job you created, grew and love. But the timing is right when you achieve your long term goals, when you have a great team, leadership and succession in place to take things to the next level.
“It’s been an amazing purpose-driven journey the past thirteen years helming the role and I look forward to where sustainability rises to next for Singtel.”
