Why Schneider Electric is the Most Sustainable Company

Schneider Electric has taken the top spot in Sustainability Magazineâs Top 250 Most Sustainable Companies report in 2025.
Companies in the list were ranked based on a holistic evaluation of strategic sustainability performance across environmental impact, social responsibility, governance and transparency and strategy and innovation.
For each category, each company was assigned estimated scores out of 100 for a total possible score of 400.
This includes factors like adaptability, investment in R&D and the impact of products and services.

Schneider Electric’s environmental impact
By 2030, Schneider aims to achieve a 25% absolute carbon reduction across its entire value chain.
It has also committed to becoming net zero across its entire value chain by 2050.
Schneider’s own energy use and product lifecycle impacts are disclosed through its Environmental Data Program covering more than 70% of product turnover.
By the end of 2025 it aims to raise this to 80%.
Schneider has the highest number of Sustainability Lighthouse factories recognised by the World Economic Forum of any company, recognised for industry-leading reductions in Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.

Social responsibility at Schneider Electric
Through its programmes tackling energy poverty and inequality, Schneider has provided access to clean electricity for 56 million people around the world.
It surpassed its target of training a million people in energy management by 2025 and supports youth empowerment, entrepreneurship and vocational skills development in more than 60 countries through its Youth Education and Entrepreneurship programme.
Schneiderâs VolunteerIn programme has encouraged community involvement with more than 200 local impact initiatives adopted since 2021.
The company’s Decent Work Program expanded its coverage to 79% in Q2 2025, supporting improved working conditions, compliance and positive employee impact.

Schneider’s Board of Directors oversees strategy and sustainability, with five core committees managing Governance, Audit & Risks, Human Capital, Investment and Digital/CSR.
Its Governance, Nominations & Sustainability Committee ensures board independence and reviews all major ESG, compliance and nomination matters.
The Environmental Data Program delivers detailed impact metrics, including carbon, energy, recycled content and packaging, for 110,000 commercial product references.
Schneider also operates a dedicated Responsible AI (RAI) Committee, composed of C-level executives, legal/compliance, cybersecurity and risk managers, to oversee digital ethics and trustworthy AI integration for all new technology.
