Blue Yonder is celebrated for helping companies integrate eco-friendly practices into their supply chain management.

The release of its inaugural Sustainability Report reaffirms this commitment, showcasing how its end-to-end capabilities reduce carbon emissions and waste while addressing critical sustainability trends across industries.
Duncan Angove, CEO of Blue Yonder, says: “While today’s most advanced technology is helping supply chains move faster than ever, there is a real opportunity for this technology to play a big role in sustainability.

"Many supply chains are inefficient, requiring exorbitant energy usage and producing harmful waste.

"Blue Yonder is seizing on this opportunity, utilising the industry’s only true end-to-end cloud platform to bring together all aspects of the supply chain to make it more efficient, robust and sustainable.

"We’re committed to supporting our customers’ sustainability goals by developing new capabilities focused on carbon reduction, traceability and waste reduction.”

Advancing sustainability in supply chain

The 2024 Supply Chain Executive Survey from Blue Yonder reveals a sharp focus on sustainability among businesses.

It found 44% of organisations increased their sustainability efforts in the past year and nearly half (48%) prioritised sustainability as their primary area of supply chain investment.

As a global provider of supply chain software solutions serving more than 3,000 customers, Blue Yonder is using its expertise to create a positive environmental impact.

The company has set ambitious targets for 2030, including:

  • Achieving net zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions in alignment with the Paris Agreement, while actively reducing Scope 3 emissions, which encompass the broader value chain
  • Using 100% renewable energy for its operations powered by wind, solar and other sustainable sources through a mix of onsite renewables, direct utility purchases, and renewable energy certificates (RECs).

“Supply chains play a pivotal role in achieving sustainability goals,” adds Saskia van Gendt, Chief Sustainability Officer at Blue Yonder.

Aligning goals with global sustainability objectives

Blue Yonder is aligning its efforts with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG), focusing on four specific goals to drive meaningful change:

  • Goal 2: Zero hunger: By improving inventory management, reducing food waste and enhancing traceability, Blue Yonder supports efforts to combat hunger and ensure access to nutritious food for all
  • Goal 3: Good health and wellbeing: The company’s technology helps optimise networks, ensuring critical medical supplies and equipment reach those in need, supporting better health outcomes globally
  • Goal 12: Responsible consumption and production: Promoting circular economy principles, Blue Yonder enables waste reduction through better inventory management and manufacturing planning, while lowering the carbon footprint of returned goods
  • Goal 13: Climate action: Blue Yonder empowers organisations to measure, monitor and mitigate their carbon emissions and environmental impact across planning, transportation, warehousing and returns.
