At Sustainability LIVE Dubai, Ahmed will deliver an engaging fireside chat, titled 'The Urgency Paradox: No Longer “if”, but “when" & "How much".
We recently caught up with Ahmed to discover what inspired him to get involved with our event, his aims for his panel discussion and his predictions for the future of the sustainability industry.
What inspired you to get involved with Sustainability LIVE Dubai?
Sustainability is no longer a checkbox - it’s a business-critical strategy.
The real conversation isn’t about regulations or green initiatives anymore; it’s about risk, resilience, and seizing new opportunities.
Businesses that fail to integrate sustainability into their core strategy will struggle, while those that move fast will dominate their industries.
Sustainability LIVE Dubai is the perfect platform to drive that shift in mindset.
With top executives and decision-makers in the room, it’s an opportunity to break outdated narratives and position sustainability as a driver of business growth and market leadership.
I’m here to challenge conventional thinking, introduce bold strategies and equip leaders with the insights they need to build resilient, future-ready organisations.
Provide an overview of what your fireside chat, ‘The Urgency Paradox: No Longer “If”, but “When" & "How much” will focus on.
I’ll be addressing the urgency paradox in sustainability - the widening gap between recognising the risks and taking action.
While businesses acknowledge climate threats, regulatory shifts and supply chain disruptions, many remain stuck in reactive strategies.
My focus will be on three key areas: how sustainability risks are evolving, how organisations can build systems resilient to these risks and how we can move from passive reporting to decisive action that drives real impact.
What do you hope to achieve through Sustainability LIVE Dubai?
I want to shift the conversation from obligation to opportunity.
Many companies still see sustainability as a box-ticking exercise when, in reality, it’s a strategic advantage.
Through this event, I aim to equip decision-makers with the clarity and frameworks they need to future-proof their businesses, navigate regulatory complexity and turn sustainability into a competitive edge.
What emerging trends do you believe will shape the future of sustainability over the next decade?
The next years will not be about who reports the best - it will be about who acts the fastest and the smartest.
The channels for these actions will be:
- Supply chain transformation: Companies will be forced to re-engineer their supply chains for resilience, transparency and carbon neutrality, or risk losing market share.
- Monetisation of sustainability: Carbon pricing, nature-based credits and sustainability-linked finance will redefine business profitability and investment flows.
- AI-powered sustainability: Data will be the game-changer. AI-driven ESG intelligence will separate leaders from laggards by turning raw data into predictive insights for risk management and value creation.
- Risk-driven regulation: Governments and financial institutions are tightening the screws on compliance, linking sustainability performance directly to capital access and market competitiveness.
