Eaton, a company dedicated to innovative power management solutions, is significantly enhancing its production capabilities in the US.

The firm is establishing a third manufacturing facility specifically for three-phase transformers, a move that underscores its commitment to addressing the pressing demand for reliable energy sources.

With a hefty investment of US$340m, Eaton is expanding its American manufacturing operations for three-phase transformers.

These devices are critical in providing uninterrupted access to electrical power.

This strategic expansion comes in response to the escalating demand from various sectors, including utilities, large commercial settings, industrial spaces, and, notably, data centres.

Strategic investment and job creation

The new production site is set to open in Jonesville, North Carolina, around 2027. Eaton's decision to revamp and enhance an existing facility into a state-of-the-art manufacturing hub promises to create approximately 700 new jobs.

This development is part of a broader commitment by Eaton, which has seen the company invest over US$1bn in its North American operations for electrical solutions since 2023.

“Electrical power demand is increasing dramatically, and our solutions are at the heart of energy systems everywhere, from the utility grid to industrials, data centers, buildings and more,” he says.

Eaton's initiative reflects a concerted effort to enhance production capacities and employment not just in North Carolina but across the US to pave the way for affordable, reliable, and clean energy solutions.

South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster and Eaton acknowledge the significant support from local, state, and federal entities, which has been instrumental in realizing this expansion project.

β€œEaton’s new operation in Union County represents a major vote of confidence in South Carolina’s highly skilled, world-class workforce,” said Governor McMaster.

Enhancing production and sustainability

Beyond the new facility in Jonesville, Eaton continues to operate other manufacturing sites across the US. These include locations in Waukesha, Wisconsin, for three-phase transformers and Nacogdoches, Texas, for single-phase, pole-mount, and pad-mount transformers.

The company's expansion is not limited to increasing physical outputs. Eaton is also boosting its range of power distribution solutions, which encompasses transformers and voltage regulators along with electrical assemblies, switchgear, switchboards, and circuit breakers.

These advances play a crucial role in supporting infrastructural projects for electric grids.

Committed to sustainability, Eaton designs its products to be efficient, supporting customers' net zero ambitions and contributing to sustainable operations in data centres and critical manufacturing sectors.

This strategy not only underscores Eaton's role in advancing green energy but also solidifies its standing as a leader in technological innovation and environmental stewardship.

As Eaton's investment in the community and technological innovation burgeons, the impact resonates through the local economy and job market, promoting substantial economic growth.
