Geniemode secures US$50m in Series C funding to expand its global sourcing operations
Geniemode has secured US$50m in Series C funding to expand its global sourcing operations, with a view to making clothing supply chains more sustainable

Geniemode, the design-centric apparel sourcing platform, has successfully raised more than US$50m in a Series C funding round, with Multiples Alternate Asset Management at the helm.

Joining the funding initiative are key investors such as Fundamentum, Paramark Ventures, along with existing backer Info Edge Ventures. This financial boost is earmarked for pushing Geniemode’s boundaries into fresh markets and augmenting its technology-driven supply chain solutions, solidifying its status as a formidable sourcing ally for prestigious brands and retailers globally.

Geniemode employs an asset-light sourcing paradigm, which essentially means it eschews owning manufacturing setups in favour of connecting brands with thoroughly vetted suppliers. This methodology not only ensures flexibility and cost-effectiveness but also significantly slashes turnaround times—an indispensable benefit in today's ever-evolving global supply chain milieu.

The incorporation of AI in design innovation alongside procurement empowers brands with access to data-driven trend insights, digital prototyping and predictive analytics. This fusion ensures that brands aren't just rapidly responding to market demand but are also curbing wastage and trenchantly improving sustainability.

Amit Sharma, Co-Founder and CEO of Geniemode, believes this integration is a distinctive advantage.

"At Geniemode, we are redefining global sourcing by seamlessly integrating technology, AI-driven design innovation and a sustainable, agile supply chain to help brands and retailers stay ahead of the curve," he says.

"This investment accelerates our mission to build the most efficient, transparent and scalable sourcing ecosystem, empowering brands with AI-powered design capabilities, speed, flexibility and responsible sourcing solutions.ā€

Indeed, Geniemode's procurement process is engineered to obliterate inefficiencies inherent in traditional sourcing models.

By linking more than 100 global retailers with more than 200 verified suppliers, Geniemode has managed to curtail lead times by as much as 40%. Consequently, brands can now debut trend-centric collections more swiftly without compromising either quality or sustainability.

Global expansion and the China+1 strategy

A substantial segment of this funding will invigorate Geniemode’s international growth.

The firm is actively enhancing its footprint in Turkey, Vietnam, Indonesia and Egypt—critical nodes in the apparel manufacturing sector. This strategic expansion dovetails with the China+1 strategy, which involves brands diversifying their sourcing horizons beyond China to forge more resilient supply networks.

For retailers, the imperative for a dependable procurement partner is incredibly crucial and growing. Enhanced production costs, supply chain jolts, and evolving consumer anticipations all necessitate a sourcing model that is both agile and transparent.

Sridhar Sankararaman, Managing Director at Multiples Alternate Asset Management, regards Geniemode as an innovator in this sector.

ā€œGlobal macro trends are reshaping the apparel sourcing landscape, driving a rebalancing of supply chains," he says.

ā€œOur investment in Geniemode is part of our active strategy to back leading new-age businesses that are disrupting large markets using technology.

ā€œBacked by the vision of founders Amit and Tanuj, and their over two decades of sourcing experience, Geniemode offers a true 360-degree solution to global brands and retailers.ā€

Sustainable and responsible sourcing

Sustainability isn't just a buzzword but a burgeoning priority for both brands and consumers alike. Geniemode addresses this by weaving responsible sourcing practices into its procurement blueprint.

Leveraging advanced digital tools, the company assures transparency in the supply chain, thereby reducing excess inventory and diminishing the environmental toll.

The broader B2B ecommerce realm is slated for robust growth, with a projected compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 19.7% from 2022 to 2030. In this dynamic arena, Geniemode's allegiance to sustainable and data-driven procurement designates it as a pivotal player in the evolving apparel industry landscape.

Amit reiterates the company ethos on LinkedIn: “From day one, our mission has been clear: to fix an outdated sourcing model that no longer serves modern brands.

“Long lead times, lack of transparency and rigid supply chains have held businesses back for too long. We knew sourcing could be smarter, faster and more sustainable.”

Following this significant Series C funding, Geniemode is poised to expand its sourcing network, refine its pioneering technologies, and further solidify itself as a trusted procurement partner for global brands.
