Job To: Executive Vice President of Sustainability, Operations and R&D at Cemex
Ricardo is a seasoned executive with nearly 30 years of experience in the building materials industry, currently serving as Cemex's Executive Vice President of Sustainability, Operations and Research & Development since April 2025.
Ricardo has been at Cemex throughout his entire professional career, during which time he has demonstrated exceptional leadership across strategic planning, commercial operations and general management roles. His understanding of the cement industry is complemented by extensive international exposure, having held key positions spanning Europe, North America and Latin America.
Prior to his new role, Ricardo served as President of Cemex Mexico for over six years (2019-2025), where he oversaw one of the company's most significant regional operations. His previous leadership positions included President of Cemex Colombia (2016-2019), Vice President of the Distribution Segment (2014-2016), and Vice President of Commercial & Marketing for Cemex Mexico (2012-2014).
Ricardo's global perspective was further developed through his roles as Strategic Planning Vice President for Cemex USA and President of Cemex Poland & Czech Republic. His strategic vision was also evident in his work leading planning initiatives across multiple regions including Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australia.
Known for building high-performance teams, Ricardo is passionate about driving meaningful change in sustainable development within the challenging cement industry, which faces significant decarbonisation hurdles. He prioritises cultivating environments where talented professionals can thrive while focusing on innovation and operational excellence.
Ricardo's approach centers on building strong, lasting relationships with customers and key stakeholders, ensuring alignment and shared success as the industry navigates complex sustainability challenges and technological transformation.
