Decarbonising construction

During 2025, Holcim began to execute its NextGen Growth 2030 strategy, which aims to drive shareholder value with its sustainable construction solutions.

It scaled its sustainable products, including ECOPact concrete and ECOPlanet cement, to meet its customers’ goals.

ECOPact made up for 31% of its ready-mix concrete net sales and ECOPlanet was a 36% share of cement net sales.

Its target is to have both products make up for more than a 50% share of ready-mix concrete and cement net sales.

Holcim aims to become a net zero company by 2050, which includes cutting its Scope 1 emissions through energy efficiency.

It plans to use carbon capture technologies to address any remaining emissions after operational changes.

Kim Fausing, Chairman of the Board at Holcim, says: “2025 was a transformative year for Holcim, as we began to deliver on our NextGen Growth 2030 strategy as the leading partner for sustainable construction.

“To achieve excellent results, you need talented people working with a deep sense of purpose across all market conditions and economic cycles.

“I am honoured to be part of a winning team in my first year as Chairman of Holcim, and I thank all of our employees for their dedication in delivering these great results.”

Building a circular industry

Holcim aims to accelerate growth in circular construction, through increasing its construction demolition materials (CDM) volumes through its ECOCycle technology.

Its target is to reach more than 20 million tons of CDM by 2030.

To achieve this goal, Holcim is working on scaling this technology in metropolitan areas to create high-value solutions that can help save valuable primary raw materials, minimise waste and drive growth.

The use of ECOCycle during the construction process guarantees between 10% and 100% of recycled CDM.

It works by reducing the use of primary materials, conserving natural resources and minimising landfills.

Carmen Diaz, Chief People and Sustainability Officer at Holcim, says: “Driven by a clear purpose to deliver progress, with sustainability and innovation at the core of NextGen Growth 2030, we have been successfully implementing our strategy following the spin-off of the North American business.

“We are accelerating the scale-up of our sustainable offering – from ECOPact and ECOPlanet to ECOCycle – across all of our markets. Demand for low-carbon and circular solutions continues to grow strongly.

“Our strong 2025 results are a clear reflection of how the Holcim Spirit is motivating us to deliver value for our people, customers and shareholders as the leading partner for sustainable construction.”

A nature-positive future

As part of its NextGen Growth 2030 plan, Holcim aims to bring nature into cities, while reducing freshwater withdrawal by 33% in its operations by 2030, compared to 2020.

It works on bringing a range of solutions to customers to build nature into their construction.

This includes building green roofs with living plants to help increase biodiversity while absorbing carbon emissions.

Holcim aims to advance supplier actions to protect nature, prioritising water management, sustainable packaging and mining.

In order to shift to a nature-positive future, Holcim is partnering with NGOs, coalitions and other actors in the built environment value chain to share and transfer knowledge and solutions.

Miljan Gutovic, CEO of Holcim, says: “The absolute highlight was the launch of our NextGen Growth 2030 strategy to be the leading partner for sustainable construction.
