Schneider’s Pierre Giono: Leading Sustainability Strategy

Across the globe, Schneider Electric has more than 160,000 employees, positioning itself as a leader in the energy management and industrial automation sectors.
The company has announced the appointment of Pierre Giono as its new Global Sustainability Strategy Director.
Pierre has been with the company for more than 15 years, working across its digital services, field services and sustainability divisions.
About Pierre’s career
Pierre received his Master’s degree in Engineering, Sustainability, Energy Efficiency, Energy Economics and Renewable Energies in 2010.
After graduating, he joined Schneider Electric as an Energy Management Consultant, working across China and France.
He stayed in this role for four years before becoming a Project Team Manager, Field Services, Energy BU, where he managed a portfolio of more than 400 projects.
Pierre became the Middle East & Africa Operations Director for Field Services in 2018 and held the position for three years.
In 2021, he moved into sustainability at Schneider Electric, working as Digital Services and Sustainability Asia Pacific Director.
In this role, he worked in Singapore, leading digital services as a strategic lever for value creation, driving growth across the region.
Most recently, Pierre has served as Sustainability Director, taking on the role in 2023.
In this position, he defined and drove the global sustainability strategy across 28 Schneider Electric plants in 15 countries.
He led the company’s decarbonisation roadmap towards net zero, resulting in a 74% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions.
Schneider’s sustainability strategy
Schneider Electric recently concluded its Schneider Sustainability Impact 2021-2025 programme and set its ambitions for 2030 and beyond.
It published its 2025 results, reporting progress in areas such as climate and governance.
In 2025, Schneider Electric saved and avoided 862 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions for its customers.
All of its global sites adopted local biodiversity conservation and restoration programmes in 2025, meeting its target.
Since 2021, the company has brought more than 500 local sustainability initiatives to its countries of operation.

Pierre’s future at Schneider
In his new position at Schneider Electric, Pierre will oversee the company’s 2030 sustainability strategy and analyse the long-term relevance of its sustainability positioning.
He is working on implementing the strategy across the entire organisation, including setting targets and tracking investments across operations.
In the role, he continues his more than 15-year tenure at Schneider Electric, taking on a global leadership position after gaining expertise across the company.
