Decarbonisation platforms can handle sustainability data for businesses
The top decarbonisation platforms supporting target setting, decision making and reporting include Sweep, Watershed and Salesforce Net Zero Cloud

Decarbonisation can come with a lot of data, particularly in businesses with huge supply chains. 

A report from BCG says that more than 90% of companies are not measuring their emissions regularly and accurately.

Decarbonisation platforms are built to tackle this task, freeing up time to take action. 

Sustainability Magazine has ranked 10 of the top decarbonisation platforms.

10. Novata

Novata aims to streamline ESG data collection, simplify carbon accounting and reduce reporting overhead in sustainability. 

The business is collaborating with Microsoft to leverage its Azure AI Foundry and Microsoft Fabric alongside co-developing AI-powered technologies.

It contains more than 3,500 decarbonisation solutions and activities that businesses can implement to catalyse change and make progress on net zero targets.

The platform is able to produce sustainability and carbon reports instantly in line with reporting schemes.

In 2024, the business introduced Workiva Carbon, focussed on carbon accounting, carbon management and decarbonisation. It aims to unify carbon and financial data within one AI-powered platform.

6. Persefoni

Persefoni focuses on decarbonisation management and carbon reporting, covering Scope 3 emissions from suppliers. 

Its extensive tools enable the development of practical decarbonisation plans, including reduction modelling. 

In 2024, it introduced a free tier of its carbon accounting and management platform to “democratise” sustainability.

The company also released SpheraCloud Life Cycle Assessment Database Server designed to increase data accuracy and eliminate manual data management.

3. Salesforce Net Zero Cloud

Salesforce’s Net Zero Cloud is a decarbonisation platform to assist organisations in tracking, managing and reducing carbon emissions within a wider ESG framework.

Net Zero Cloud integrates with Data Cloud and Agentforce, connecting large volumes of detailed sustainability data across finance, procurement and operations without the need for data movement or reformatting.

2. Watershed

Watershed is an all-in-one enterprise decarbonisation platform, supporting organisations from various sectors. It offers tools for measuring, reporting and taking action on decarbonisation, boasting the “highest quality” data.

Its measurement approach follows science-based targets, allowing for assessments with material-specific emissions factors. Customers can also access a curated marketplace of carbon projects and virtual power purchase agreements.

Major firms such as General Motors, FedEx, Visa and DP World use Watershed to aid their decarbonisation efforts.
