Bentley’s 2025 Sustainability Report Powers EV Ambition

In 2020, Bentley launched its "Beyond100" manifesto, outlining its commitment to becoming a sustainable luxury automotive brand.
Since then, Bentley Motors has published its third annual Sustainability Report on Earth Day, reassuring its vision of delivering responsible luxury underpinned by sustainability, innovation and social value.
The 2025 report outlines measurable progress across Bentley’s Beyond100+ strategy, from full electrification to advanced manufacturing and community impact.
An electrification milestone
Bentley's report highlights its pivotal move towards decarbonisation, all Bentley models are now available as plug-in hybrid EVs (PHEVs), underscoring the brand’s ambition to transition to a fully electric product portfolio by 2035.
Bentley is committed to introducing a new battery EV (BEV) or PHEV every year, over the next decade.
The final production of Bentley’s iconic W12 engine in 2024 marks a symbolic and strategic shift as the brand paves the way for its first fully electric vehicle – a luxury urban SUV to be unveiled in 2026.
“We are proud to launch our third Sustainability Report on Earth Day, reinforcing our ambition to transition to net zero,” says Frank-Steffen Walliser, Chairman and CEO of Bentley Motors.
“While we acknowledge the challenges ahead, our dedication to responsible luxury remains steadfast. With innovation, investment and the passion of our people, we continue to redefine what it means to be a sustainable luxury brand.”
The company’s wider electrification strategy is reinforced by supply chain and lifecycle emissions initiatives, targeting net zero across operations and vehicle use phases.
Leadership and site sustainability
At the company’s headquarters in the UK, Bentley continues to set the standard in sustainable manufacturing.
The site has run on 100% renewable electricity since 2017 and achieved carbon neutrality in 2019 — a status it maintained for the fifth consecutive year in 2024.
Investments in facilities have further strengthened this green transition.
Bentley’s Dream Factory also saw enhancements across three major centres:
- The Engineering Technical Centre (ETC) adopted virtual testing and 3D printing for R&D.
- The Excellence Centre for Quality and Launch (ECQL) integrated AI to improve vehicle quality.
- The Technical Conformity Centre (TCC) reduced transport emissions by localising compliance processes to Crewe.
Bentley’s pursuit of sustainable luxury includes the use of advanced technologies to enhance traditional materials.
A key example is the introduction of AI-powered hide inspection, which reduces leather waste and optimises interior production – demonstrating how digital innovation and craftsmanship can coexist.
The report also highlights Bentley’s focus on workforce development.
With its status as a UK Top Employer for 14 consecutive years, Bentley is investing in skills to prepare its employees for the transition to electric mobility.
A five-year training programme is already underway, covering electrification, digitalisation and advanced manufacturing, with the goal of delivering 10,000 learning outcomes by 2027.
These efforts support a culture of inclusion, wellbeing and continuous learning, ensuring Bentley’s people are equipped for the future of sustainable mobility.
Bentley’s environmental foundation
The Bentley Environmental Foundation, launched in 2024 with an initial £3m (almost US$4m) investment.
This year the company marked its first anniversary with the addition of three new partners:
- Hubbub
- Forum for the Future
- Renewable World.
This brings the Foundation’s partner network to ten organisations, a significant milestone in Bentley’s mission to drive environmental regeneration and sustainable innovation.
“Bentley launched the Foundation 12 months ago with a £3 million donation for environmental projects worldwide,” comments Wayne Bruce, Chief Communications and DEI Officer at Bentley Motors.
“Since then, we have witnessed a series of major partnership successes that have already acted as a springboard to even greater achievements.
“As Bentley aims to be a leader in sustainable luxury mobility, the Foundation will simultaneously strive to target next generation solutions to global environmental challenges.
“Better still, we invite anybody to donate and join us in being a part of something truly extraordinary.”
Each of the new partnerships reflects a unique area of focus:
- Hubbub will connect community-led green spaces across the UK to improve access to nature and support local wellbeing.
- Forum for the Future will enhance its Business Transformation Compass project, guiding companies on embedding sustainability in core business strategy.
- Renewable World will pilot clean energy solutions in western Nepal to support sustainable livelihoods and climate resilience.
Other achievements in the Foundation’s first year include:
- More than 200,000 mangrove trees planted and 15,000m² of seagrass restored via SeaTrees projects in Kenya, Spain and Portugal
- Funding support for Blue Marine Foundation’s expedition in the Dominican Republic, leading to protection of more than 30% of the country’s waterways
- Support for Drawdown’s Capital Coalition, a strategic initiative directing private investment to climate solutions
- Launch of an education initiative in Thailand to combat river waste in collaboration with Audi Environmental Foundation and Ferry Porsche Foundation
Closer to home, a regeneration project of the Valley Brook River in Crewe is also underway.
The Foundation has also influenced internal innovation, with alumni pitching bio-inspired ideas to Bentley’s design team.
As Bentley accelerates towards its vision of all-electric luxury, the 2025 Sustainability Report illustrates the brand’s evolving role as a pioneer in environmentally and socially conscious automotive leadership.
