Porsche & ChargePoint Are Changing the Face of US EV Market

German automotive giant Porsche has been investing in an electric future for years now.
The EV revolution does not just involve designing new car models, though. To get the wheels in motion, the entire ecosystem of the sector has to be overhauled.
A lot of that is down to establishing a wide and reliable charging network which allows drivers to travel anywhere free from range anxiety.
Since 2024, Porsche has partnered with ChargePoint, one of North America’s largest providers of EV charging infrastructure.
Porsche has announced that it has successfully integrated more than 97,000 ChargePoint stations into its Porsche Charging Service, giving its drivers full access to ChargePoint’s invaluable services.
This expansion brings the total number of charging stations available to Porsche customers in the United States to 102,000, with further additions planned throughout 2025.
The importance of customer access
The expanded network primarily benefits customers enrolled in the Porsche Charging Service Premium plan, who can now activate access through the My Porsche app.
Customers using the Base plan will gain access later this summer, according to the company's announcement.
"This is a significant milestone for Porsche and the electric vehicle journey," says Timo Resch, President and CEO of Porsche Cars North America (PCNA).
"We know flexibility and choice are important. As more customers purchase electrified Porsche vehicles in the United States, we are dedicated to giving them the seamless charging experience they expect."
Comprehensive network integration
Beyond ChargePoint's own stations, the partnership includes access to other networks within the ChargePoint roaming ecosystem including EV Connect, EVgo, Flo, EvGateway and Ionna.
This significant expansion bolsters Porsche's existing integration with Electrify America, creating a more comprehensive charging solution.
The My Porsche app enables drivers to easily find, use and pay at the majority of J1772 and CCS1 charging stations, streamlining the charging process for owners.
“We passionately believe in choice, and as a result we are constantly looking for opportunities to enhance our customer experience and expand charging options,” he said at the time,” Timo said last year when the partnership was first announced.
He and his team have well and truly delivered on that message in 2025.
Strategic timing
The successful implementation comes at a strategic time for Porsche's electrification plans.
When initially announcing the partnership in 2024, PCNA highlighted that it would coincide with the arrival of the new Taycan at Porsche Centres that summer, followed by the all-new Macan Electric later in the year.
"ChargePoint is honoured to help Porsche provide their drivers with a charging experience that aligns with the rest of their renowned brand experience," says Rick Wilmer, CEO of ChargePoint.
"We are pleased to offer more charging options for Porsche drivers, and ChargePoint software will enhance their experience by enabling integrated and frictionless charging."
The partnership fulfils ChargePoint's mission of ensuring a seamless charging experience for electric vehicle drivers, supporting its commitment to moving people and goods on electricity.
With the integration now live, Porsche EV and PHEV owners can access more than 75% of charging ports available across North America, according to data from the US Department of Energy Alternate Fuels Data Centre.
For Porsche, this expansion represents a significant step in supporting its growing electric vehicle line-up and enhancing the ownership experience for customers who have chosen their electrified models.
