Almost 900 global companies have been recognised for their environmental transparency and climate action on CDP’s (Carbon Disclosure Project) Corporate A List.

CDP is the only independent environmental disclosure platform in the world, collecting and publishing environmental data from companies, cities, states and regions.

For the 2025 list, more than 22,100 companies and more than 1,000 locations disclosed their environmental information to CDP.

What is the CDP’s A List?

CDP’s Corporate A List names the most advanced companies when it comes to having a positive impact on the climate and the environment.

Global companies have the chance to voluntarily respond to the CDP questionnaire, which includes 15 sections about businesses’ climate strategies, their environmental commitments and the evaluation of their greenhouse gas emissions.

The more than 22,100 companies that disclosed data through CDP this year represent more than half of global market capitalisation, including some of the world’s largest and most impactful companies.

Sherry Madera, CEO of CDP, says: “Markets are sending an unmistakable signal: clear, consistent environmental data is indispensable for sound decision-making.

“The momentum behind disclosure in 2025 shows that organisations of every size and sector recognise the value of transparent information to strengthen resilience, support innovation and unlock investment.

“CDP’s A List reflects the leading examples of this ambition, but the real story lies in the global commitment to making environmental data visible and actionable.

“As investors, policymakers and companies rely ever more heavily on these insights, disclosure remains one of the most powerful drivers of Earth-positive progress.”

Local governments making climate impact

As part of CDP’s data collection, more than 1,000 cities, states and regions disclosed information in 2025.

This represents more than one billion people in population, with the insights from the data used to support governments to build more sustainable and resilient places.

The Cities and States & Regions A Lists showcase leaders disclosing their climate risks, needs and opportunities and attracting investment for priority projects.

In 2025, 738 cities were scored, with 120 cities making the Cities A List.

CDP’s States and Regions A List only includes two states out of the 91 that submitted data: California and Colorado, both in the US.

While the majority of local governments on these A Lists are in Europe and North America, there is still a presence on the list from the Global South, showing a global commitment to climate action.

Companies recognised on the A List

Companies across all sectors and regions of the global economy disclosed data with CDP in 2025, showing their environmental transparency.

The collected data reveal that France, Turkey and Japan are frontrunners in transparency, with the highest proportion of A List companies in each market relative to the number of companies scored.

In the list, 877 companies made the A List and 23 companies scored a Triple A status, meaning that they have the most positive impact in all three areas of climate, forests and water.

Since 2023, there has been a steady growth in the number of companies achieving A status in all three areas, which reflects how businesses are prioritising environmental issues alongside economic growth.

One company on the A List is Sony, which has made the list for the fifth consecutive year and the 10th time overall.

It was recognised for its Road to Zero environmental plan, which includes the company’s targets for a zero environmental footprint by 2050 and net zero emissions by 2040.

Sony said on LinkedIn: “As Sony continues to innovate and engage with partners to reduce environmental impact, we celebrate their dedication to creating a more sustainable world.”

Carlsberg also made the list, earning an A in climate and an A- for water security.

Simon Boas Hoffmeyer, VP, Global Head of Sustainability and ESG at Carlsberg, said on LinkedIn: “Exciting news! Carlsberg Group has been recognised on CDP’s A List, highlighting our leadership in climate transparency and action.
