DuPont's sustainability goals link growth to decarbonisation. It is moving away from short-term goals towards a broader plan through 2035

DuPont is a solutions provider in healthcare, water and other industries, driven by advanced engineered products, application development and manufacturing.

It emphasises sustainable innovation, such as tackling water treatment issues, meeting healthcare demands for medical devices and supporting AI for sophisticated computing. The company integrates environmental and social governance into its operations to ensure its growth supports global decarbonisation efforts.

“Throughout 2025, we collaborated with customers to introduce sustainably advantaged products, made substantial progress on reducing our climate impact and extended our sustainability expectations into our supply chain,” says Lori Koch, CEO at DuPont.

Marshalling data to find gains

Since 2019, DuPont has reduced its Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 76%. Scope 3 emissions have also fallen by 66% compared to 2020 and the company says it is on track to reach net zero by 2050.

Enhanced data accuracy is vital for identifying decarbonisation opportunities and evaluating our actions. DuPont is refining its carbon accounting by shifting from spend-based to volume-based emission factors and adopting supplier-specific data in line with GHG Protocol Scope 3 standards.

Currently, 28% of its raw material emissions are based on suppliers' carbon footprint submissions. To improve data quality, DuPont is expanding inventory coverage and automating data collection.

Decarbonisation and renewable energy procurement

Switching to renewable energy has helped lower emissions. Now, half of DuPont’s global electricity comes from renewable sources. All of its European manufacturing sites use only renewable electricity, setting an example for other locations.

"The progress outlined in our 2026 Sustainability Report reflects the dedication of our teams and underscores how sustainability is embedded in DuPont’s strategy that drives growth, consistent execution and long‑term value creation,” says Scott Collick, Chief Sustainability Officer at DuPont.

“The report highlights the advancements we have made in the past year to strengthen our portfolio, drive operational efficiency and deliver sustainable innovation alongside our customers. We’re encouraged by the momentum we’re building, and the role sustainability plays in supporting durable, profitable growth.”

Operational efficiency and revenue alignment

More than 35% of DuPont’s current revenue comes from products introduced in the past five years, while almost 80% of new projects are focused on sustainability. Research and development are closely aligned with new regulations and environmental needs.

Resource management is also a major focus for 2025. Programmes to reduce, reuse, recycle and recover materials now cover 78% of DuPont’s sites. These efforts help the company use resources more efficiently and manage risks with raw materials.

Moving toward circular systems will also make its operations more resilient and efficient.

Looking to 2035 and beyond

DuPont’s 2035 goals show that long-term sustainability is now a core part of its business. The company is using sustainability to build lasting profits and stay ahead of supply chain and regulatory demands.

For its 2035 targets, DuPont is aiming to minimise, eliminate, or avoid substances of concern (SoC) in products where safer alternatives exist. Every DuPont facility will implement a reduce, reuse, repurpose, recycle programme to achieve a 10% reduction in total waste intensity.

Finally, DuPont will communicate responsible sourcing expectations aligned with the UN Global Compact to suppliers and implement monitoring programmes aligned with industry standards.
