Rockwell Automation: Packaging, Cybersecurity and Energy

Rockwell Automation is a global leader in industrial automation and digital transformation.
It provides its customers with hardware, software and services to help them become more resilient and sustainable.
With its 26,000 employees, it operates and serves customers in more than 100 countries around the world.
Rockwell Automation has released its 2025 Sustainability Report, which highlights its ESG and sustainability practices, strategies and achievements.
Rockwell Automation’s sustainability goals
Rockwell Automation has a Triple A framework to work on its own and its customers’ sustainability journeys.
This model features three phases – assess, advance and accelerate – which are connected to manage all areas of ESG commitments.
The company submitted its near-term and long-term sustainability targets to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in December 2025 and will announce the goals once they have been validated.
In 2025, Rockwell’s Scope 1 and 2 market-based normalised emissions were consistent with the previous year.
It aims to continue assessing and reporting on its Scope 3 emissions, which make up around 99% of its carbon footprint.
These emissions come from Rockwell’s value chain suppliers, logistics partners and the customers’ use of its products.
It plans to have a role in reducing Scope 3 emissions by providing energy-efficient products, helping its customers be energy efficient, increasing transparency in its reporting and aligning with SBTi targets.
Blake Moret, Chairman and CEO of Rockwell Automation, says: “Today’s industrial landscape is evolving faster than ever.
“Global supply chains are shifting, production is moving closer to customers and manufacturers are navigating increasing complexity.
“We are proud of the progress we’ve made and we remain committed to transparency, accountability and continuous improvement.”
Recyclable packaging & waste reduction
In 2025, Rockwell Automation exceeded its goal of diverting 90% or more of its waste from landfill.
It achieved this through recycling, reuse and energy reclamation, as well as recycling 14% of its hazardous waste.
The company is working towards smarter energy use in its facilities, through increasing its use of renewable energy.
It has installed two large solar panel systems at its Aabybro, Denmark CUBIC facility to help power its resources.
The annual emissions savings from this installation is predicted to be 27kg CO₂e, with surplus solar energy being fed into the local grid.
Emmanuel Guilhamon, Vice President, Sustainability at Rockwell Automation, adds: “We believe the path to a more sustainable future is paved with innovation.
“That’s why we’re investing in digital tools, automation and AI that help us and our customers make smarter, faster decisions.
“These technologies are transforming how we manage energy, optimise operations and reduce environmental impact.”
Rockwell Automation has also set itself targets to advance its circular packaging solutions.
Guided by its five-year sustainable packaging strategy, the company is working on “right-sizing” its packaging, reducing the overall volume and incorporating recycled and recyclable materials.
This can help customers close the material loop while lowering carbon emissions, landfill waste and costs.
In 2025, it achieved its goals of having all new packaging made from sustainable or renewable sources, 100% of its suppliers providing sustainable forestry certifications and all corrugated packaging having up to 70% recycled content.
“Setting packaging sustainability goals is smart business,” says Brad Gruneberg, Product Engineer, Packaging at Rockwell Automation.
“Through thoughtful design, Rockwell Automation demonstrates environmental stewardship by using sustainable materials that protect our products, meet global regulations, safeguard the planet and build quality and trust with customers worldwide.”

Enhancing cybersecurity compliance
Cybersecurity is a key concern for Rockwell, as they aim to overcome cyber risks and meet compliance standards.
It is working with the EU via trade groups and other advisory organisations to interpret new cyber regulations.
Through this process, Rockwell can analyse its product portfolio to ensure that it is as compliant as possible, while working with its customers to plan for compliance.
Rockwell Automation aims to increase its security resilience through collaboration, including its strategic alliance with HackerOne.
HackerOne is the global leader in hacker-powered security, with the partnership allowing for potential risks to be identified and reported in Rockwell’s industrial automation products and services.
Tony Baker, Vice President and CPSO, Digital Trust at Rockwell Automation, says: “Our partnership with HackerOne enhances our Product Security Program.
“This collaboration, alongside our secure development lifecycle processes and ongoing efforts to comply with global cybersecurity standards, reaffirms our commitment to the highest levels of product security.”
