Sustainability LIVE NYC: The Route to Net Zero

In alignment with the Paris agreement, there is a global race for countries to reach net zero emissions by 2050.
If the world does not reach this target the United Nations say that the rate of global warming will create irreversible climate change damage, inciting more extreme weather such as storms, heat waves and droughts.
At Sustainability LIVE NYC 2025, leaders from Amazon Web Services (AWS), Signify, Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team and Atlassian will be discussing the difficulties surrounding the transition on the panel, The Route to Net Zero.
How are companies reaching net zero?
AWS - AWS aims to reach this ambitious goal through innovating infrastructure, increasing its EV fleet, transitioning to carbon free electricity and promoting a circular economy.
Kara Hurst, Chief Sustainability Officer at Amazon said in a statement: “While we are firm on our goals, our approach will continuously evolve with emerging challenges and opportunities, as we’re seeing with the rapid adoption of AI.
“No matter what we’re faced with in the future, we’ll remain steadfast in our commitment to sustainability and will continue to invest, innovate and obsess over our progress each year, with the same intensity and focus that has defined Amazon from day one.”
Signify - The company reports that it continues to work with suppliers to reduce carbon footprint and collaborate with others to incite sustainable change outside of its operations such as its partnership with Clean Cargo.
As Tempelman CEO, Signify says: “Looking to the future, I believe there is a real opportunity to grow.
“Building on existing strengths, unlocking new possibilities, and continuing to lead the way in lighting and beyond, improving lives for people and communities around the world.”
Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team - Alongside optimising operations to reach sustainability goals Mercedes AMG says it invests in carbon removals such as nature based solutions and pioneering technologies.
“We are determined to lead by example in the pursuit of sustainability,” explains Toto Wolff, Team Principal and CEO, Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team.
“We’re excited about the growth of our sport in the United States and committed to supporting projects there as we work towards our goals.
Atlassian - Through a virtual power purchase agreement Atlassian has covered 100% of the company’s electricity use, supporting the fund of a windfarm in Texas.
"So much of our climate, human rights, foundation and social impact work is about making sure that what we're doing reflects our values,” Jessica Hyman, Chief Sustainability Officer at Atlassian says.
“Our founders started Atlassian with a vision of making sure that we do the right thing, that we take responsibility and that we set ourselves up to be a hundred year business.
“So all of these commitments are really authentic, and we really are putting in the hard yards when it comes to achieving them and then being open about when we've got headwinds in our way.
