Who is Set to Become Dow’s New Sustainability & Tech Chief?

Andre Argenton's appointment as Dow's next Chief Technology & Sustainability Officer marks a pivotal moment for the company as it seeks to integrate technology and sustainability more deeply into its operations.
He takes over from Attiganal Narayanaswam Sreeram, who has successfully guided Dow's technology agenda for two decades.
Andre is poised to lead one of the world's largest materials science companies into a future where innovation and environmental responsibility are inseparable, transforming scientific research into solutions that improve performance and reduce environmental impact.
Transforming sustainable innovation
After earning his PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of São Paulo, Andre joined Dow Brazil in 1999 and moved to the US in 2007.
Having been with Dow for more than 20 years, Andre has developed a comprehensive understanding of both the precision required in research and the necessity of human collaboration, particularly in developing sustainable materials like circular plastics.
“Science has always been at the heart of what we do,” Andre has said in previous company updates.
“But today, it’s about how fast we can turn that science into real solutions – ones that improve performance and reduce environmental impact at the same time.”
Throughout his career, he has worked across regions and product lines, contributing to the creation of efficient coatings and smarter packaging.
His established leadership in Environment, Health, Safety & Sustainability (EHS&S) showcases his dedication to advancing Dow's ESG performance and sustainable value creation.
Andre's appointment signals a shift towards unifying technology and sustainability, ensuring that each stage of product development focuses on both technical performance and lifecycle impact.
Data-driven leadership for sustainable growth
Andre is a strong advocate for embedding advanced computational tools within the materials laboratory.
By applying AI, molecular modelling and automated experimentation, Dow’s research teams can assess environmental impact and material performance long before physical production begins.
This enables sustainability considerations such as carbon intensity, resource efficiency and circularity to be designed in from the outset rather than retrofitted later.
A data-led approach allows Dow to direct resources towards innovations with the greatest sustainability returns, using predictive insights to develop materials with verified environmental credentials alongside targeted performance properties.
Closer alignment between R&D and manufacturing further supports sustainable scale-up, ensuring that low-impact pilot concepts can move efficiently into industrial production.
Building on the framework established by his predecessor, Andre is advancing a proven model with a sharper focus on technology-enabled sustainability.
Drawing on his leadership experience across Core R&D and sustainability, his priority is clear: to deliver solutions that reduce environmental impact while creating differentiated, long-term value for customers.
Under Andre’s leadership, Dow is expected to accelerate the deployment of technologies such as AI-optimised materials design and circular plastics, building on Attiganal’s collaborative legacy to support more sustainable growth.
