Schneider Electric, one of the world’s most sustainable companies, has appointed Chris Leong as its new Chief Sustainability Officer

Schneider Electric has a new leader driving its sustainability prowess.

The sustainability giant welcomed Chris Leong to the position on 1 January 2025 to “advance the company’s sustainability commitments and goals, continuing to strengthen its leadership position in the field.”

“I am honored to take on a new responsibility as the Chief Sustainability Officer for Schneider Electric, the #1 Most Sustainable Company in the World! What a way to celebrate my 13-year anniversary at Schneider Electric,” says Chris. 

“It’s an incredible privilege to be given this opportunity to take the amazing foundation built on Sustainability for over 20 years at Schneider to the next level, and to learn from the incredibly talented and passionate Schneider Sustainability team and community around the world.”

Meet Chris Leong

Chris joined Schneider Electric in 2012 as the Executive Vice President of Digital Customer Experience before joining the Schneider Electric Executive Committee Leadership Team as Chief Marketing Officer in March 2015.

Prior to joining Schneider Electric, Chris served as Senior Vice President of China, Japan and Korea at Nokia.

She speaks four languages and describes herself as “passionate about ESG (and UNSDG) for a sustainable and equitable future for business, customers, employees, communities and the environment.”

Celebrated as one of the top companies in sustainability by Sustainability Magazine, Schneider Electric is bringing digital solutions to sustainability and efficiency.

Schneider Electric’s new year appointments

Chris’ appointment comes at the same time as two other moves in the Schneider Electric executive team.

Frédéric Godemel, Energy Management Executive Vice President and member of the Executive Committee

Frédéric Godemel, who has been with the company since 1990, has been promoted from Power Systems & Services Executive Vice President to Energy Management Executive Vice President and member of the Executive Committee.

The role was previously held by Olivier Blum, who took over as CEO in November 2024.

Jing Ren, Executive Vice President Strategy, Brand and Communications and member of the Executive Committee

Jing Ren is also joining the Executive Committee and has been appointed to lead the newly formed Strategy, Brand & Communications team as Executive Vice President Strategy, Brand and Communications.

Jing joined Schneider Electric in 2003, and most recently served as Senior Vice President and Head of Energy Management Low Voltage Business for Schneider Electric China and East Asia.
