Where Canada Goose Reduced Emissions Across Its Supply Chain

Scope 1 and 2 emissions are primary categories of operational greenhouse gases (GHGs) and can be reduced through direct activities.
Canada Goose has reduced its market-based Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50% to date, in line with its 2019 baseline.
The company has released its FY26 Impact Report, highlighting its Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)-approved climate targets and 100% diversion of post-consumer global warranty waste from landfill in FY26.
Circularity in manufacturing
Canada Goose is strengthening its sustainability strategy by embedding circularity into manufacturing, product design and supply chain operations, as the luxury apparel company looks to reduce waste while extending product life.
The company says the majority of its products continue to be manufactured in Canada, where it maintains greater oversight of production and material sourcing.
This approach supports its focus on designing products for longevity through durable construction, repair services and resale initiatives that keep garments in use for longer.
Alongside its warranty programme, the Canada Goose Generations resale platform enables used products to be authenticated, restored and resold, with more than 19,000 garments traded during FY26.
The business has also diverted more than 90,000lbs of end-of-life products from landfill since 2020 through its reverse logistics partnership with Debrand, prioritising reuse and recycling before disposal.

Waste audits across Canadian manufacturing sites have also identified textile offcuts from fabric cutting as the largest source of waste, prompting the company to pilot manufacturing process improvements aimed at reducing waste at source and supporting a broader circularity strategy.
Sustainable sourcing in supply chains
Improving transparency across its supply chain remains central to Canada Goose's sustainability ambitions, with the company expanding traceability to better understand the environmental and social impacts of its materials.
Manufacturing most of its products internally and sourcing the majority of materials directly provides greater visibility over where products originate and how they are produced.
During FY26, Canada Goose collaborated with suppliers to map upstream supply chains beyond Tier 2, increasing visibility into material origins while identifying data gaps requiring further verification.
“Our latest Impact Report reflects both the progress we have made and how our approach to sustainability is evolving,” Jeff Fitzpatrick, Head of Sustainability at Canada Goose, tells Sustainability Magazine.
“We have stronger data, deeper insight into our products and value chain, and a clearer understanding of where our actions can have the greatest impact.
“Going forward, we are translating that knowledge into practical decisions across climate action, responsible sourcing, nature, circularity and ESG disclosure and reporting.
“Our goal is to reduce our environmental footprint, strengthen our operations and supply chain and build a more resilient business for the long term.”
The company says these improvements support forced labour risk screening, preparations for future country-of-origin reporting requirements and more complete Scope 3 emissions reporting.
Preferred Fibres and Materials accounted for 91% of materials used in Canadian manufacturing during FY26, while all down was certified to the Responsible Down Standard and all wool suppliers signed the company's Non-Mulesed Wool Self-Declaration.
Canada Goose is also expanding its use of certified materials and recyclable packaging while strengthening supplier engagement through its traceability platform and social compliance programme.
Supporting climate goals
Canada Goose is also using its manufacturing footprint to reduce operational emissions as part of its wider climate strategy.
The company has invested more than C$7m (US$4.96m) to electrify heating systems across its Canadian manufacturing facilities, replacing natural gas equipment with electric heat pumps powered by lower-carbon electricity grids in Ontario and Manitoba.
At one manufacturing site, heat generated by production machinery is now recovered to warm the facility, reducing natural gas use and cutting Scope 1 emissions at that location by 60%.

To better understand emissions across its value chain, the company completed life cycle assessments for every product manufactured during FY26, analysing impacts from raw material sourcing through manufacturing and global distribution.
Supplier collaboration has also expanded the collection of primary emissions data, with logistics providers now representing 65% primary data coverage for transportation-related Scope 3 emissions.
Protecting natural environments
Alongside its manufacturing and sourcing strategy, Canada Goose is strengthening its approach to protecting the natural environments its business depends on.
The company says nature stewardship begins with responsible material sourcing and extends throughout its supply chain, including the management of chemicals, packaging and supplier practices.
During FY26, 96% of leather purchased for offshore products was certified by the Leather
Working Group, while 89% of materials were Bluesign approved and 98% were OEKO-TEX approved, helping to reduce environmental impacts associated with production.
Canada Goose is also using supplier partnerships and environmental data to better understand biodiversity, water and ecosystem impacts linked to its priority materials and sourcing regions.
Alongside these operational initiatives, the company has contributed nearly C$8m (US$5.67m) to Polar Bears International since 2007, supporting conservation research, climate education and Arctic habitat protection.
Looking ahead, Canada Goose plans to develop strategies to address nature-related risks identified through its ESG assessments while continuing to strengthen partnerships focused on protecting ecosystems connected to its supply chain and long-term sustainability ambitions.
