Here, we profile five CPOs who are directing procurement operations at France's most significant corporations, exploring their approaches to reimagining sourcing strategies, supplier partnerships, value generation and sustainability throughout their industries.
1. Stéphane Cambier, CPO at TotalEnergies
Stéphane's career at TotalEnergies spans more than 24 years, during which he progressed through various positions before assuming the CPO role in 2023.
TotalEnergies is a French multinational integrated energy company, one of the world's seven supermajors in oil and gas, with activities spanning exploration, production, refining, chemicals and power generation. It is headquartered in Courbevoie, near Paris, and ranks amongst the largest companies globally by revenue and market value.
In his capacity as CPO, he oversees TotalEnergies Global Procurement (TGP) initiatives to provide procurement solutions throughout all TotalEnergies divisions, regional business units and affiliated entities.
The division's objective is to refine and optimise procurement through the integration of shared service centres, enhancing their effectiveness and making purchasing more straightforward for all parties involved.
Via these coordinated activities, Stéphane and his colleagues contribute to TotalEnergies' wider transformation and competitiveness objectives – promoting more straightforward, more productive purchasing operations and progressing a sustainable supply chain in line with its Sustainable Procurement roadmap.
2. Alain Tranzer, Senior EVP for Engineering & Supply Chain at Électricité de France
Électricité de France (EDF) is a French electric utility company primarily engaged in electricity generation, distribution and supply, with a significant focus on nuclear power. Headquartered in Paris, EDF is one of the largest electric utility companies globally, serving millions of customers and operating extensive power infrastructure.
Alain completed his studies at École Polytechnique and École des Mines de Paris before beginning his professional journey at PSA Group in 1991. His initial career centred on chassis engineering, subsequently moving into positions covering technical management, quality assurance and vehicle engineering.
He held the position of chief engineer for the Peugeot 407 and directed the creation of the Peugeot 208 and 2008 platforms, receiving Automotive News Europe's Project Director of the Year award in 2013 for his capabilities in overseeing industrial projects from initial concept through to market introduction.
In 2013, Alain received promotion to Senior Vice President with oversight of platforms, modules and advanced projects, supervising the creation of autonomous, connected, electric and hybrid vehicle technologies. From 2018, he assumed accountability for energy transition, guiding the creation of low-carbon engines and innovative vehicle architectures.
Since 2020, Alain has directed the "excell" initiative within the EDF Group, concentrating on improving industrial quality, organisational capabilities and governance across the company's major nuclear projects.
Since 1 April 2024, Alain Tranzer is Group Senior Executive Vice President with responsibility for the Engineering and Supply Chain Directorate, which is an organisational unit responsible for managing and overseeing the supply chain, which includes the procurement, production and distribution of goods and services.
3. Enguerrand de Pontevès, Group CPO at BNP Paribas
BNP Paribas is a major French banking and financial services institution headquartered in Paris, serving retail, corporate and institutional clients worldwide. It ranks amongst the top global banks by revenue and assets, offering banking, investment, insurance and asset management services.
Enguerrand de Pontevès has held the position of Group Chief Procurement Officer at BNP Paribas since October 2022. Before his appointment at BNP Paribas, he dedicated more than ten years to Atos SE, where he held positions including Executive Vice President and Group Chief Performance Officer, alongside Senior Vice President and COO of Infrastructure Data Management. His professional journey commenced in 1998 at Valeo as Commodity Procurement Manager, followed by IT procurement roles at Altis Semiconductor and Alcan.
He steered the organisation towards securing the Supplier Relations & Responsible Procurement (RFAR) Certification for the first time, which rewards organisations that have proved sustainable procurement practices and balanced relations with their suppliers.
Following the recognition, he stated: "This Certification is a testimony to our exemplary efforts and our credibility as a bank committed to our stakeholders. Over the years, we have worked with our suppliers to standardise our practices, improve efficiency and promote a more responsible economy.

4. Florence Vuillet, CPO at AXA
AXA is a French multinational insurance firm headquartered in Paris, providing life, health and property insurance, as well as asset management services. It is one of the world's largest insurance companies, operating in numerous countries with a broad range of insurance products.
Florence Vuillet brings a wealth of procurement expertise shaped by her tenure at some of Europe's most demanding organisations. As Chief Procurement Officer and Head of Procurement at AXA, she has led large-scale sourcing initiatives and performance management across the insurance giant.
Her career also includes strategic procurement roles at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, where she honed her supply chain acumen, and a stint as Head of Group Procurement at Euroclear, managing procurement for the financial services sector.
Beyond these positions, Florence has worked as an external consultant on P2P process redesign at Solvay and gained financial rigour through roles as a Finance Costs Controller and Financial Analyst at JP Morgan – experience that informs her data-driven approach to procurement strategy.
5. Sébastien Digonnet, Head of Procurement Transformation at Carrefour
Carrefour is a French multinational retail corporation headquartered in Boulogne-Billancourt, known for its hypermarkets, supermarkets and convenience stores.
It is one of the largest retail chains worldwide, offering a vast assortment of products including groceries, household goods and consumer electronics.
Sébastien Digonnet leads procurement transformation at Carrefour, where he has served as Group Purchasing Director for FMCG Private Labels and Indirect Purchasing Performance & Transformation since May 2021.
Before joining the retail giant, he spent over a decade at the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, building deep expertise in complex, multi-regional sourcing.
During his time there, he managed critical purchasing functions including Europe-wide coordination for lighting and global procurement oversight for interior and aftersales components – roles that sharpened his ability to navigate intricate supply chains across the automotive sector.
Sébastien holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration with a specialisation in Purchasing from Grenoble Ecole de Management, and launched his career with a buyer internship at Société Générale in 2006.
His trajectory reflects a commitment to mastering procurement across diverse industries, from financial services to automotive and retail.
