Has Evri Found the Solution to Sustainable Deliveries?
Protega Global, a UK-based sustainable packaging firm, has struck a deal with Evri (fka Hermes), one of the UK's largest parcel delivery companies.
The goal? To make logistics more sustainable.
The primary function of this partnership is to introduce Protega’s range of sustainable packaging – featuring recyclable cartons, eco-friendly tapes and biodegradable options – directly to SMEs through Evri’s comprehensive logistics platform.
This new business relationship is particularly important for Evri, whose Scope 3 emissions are hugely affected by the production and disposal of the packaging used to ship their parcels.
With Protega’s eco-conscious products in tow, Evri stands to mitigate a lot of its emissions, boosting its sustainable credentials in the process.
“At Protega, we believe in making sustainability straightforward for businesses of all sizes,” says Richard Steedman, Director of Protega.
“Working with Evri means we can reach more SMEs across the UK, offering them a reliable source for high-quality, recycled and recyclable packaging."
“This partnership brings our sustainable packaging solutions to the forefront for businesses eager to reduce waste and environmental impact, while addressing supply chain challenges.”
The collaborative strategy is also designed to go beyond slashing carbon emissions: the companies are also hoping to streamline deliveries. By enabling direct access to sustainable packaging via Evri’s platform, businesses can consolidate their operational processes, resulting in reduced waste and enhanced procurement efficiency without compromising packaging quality.
Simplifying logistics for SMEs
One of the main beneficiaries of Evri and Protega's teamwork will be small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The complexities of managing logistics and packaging often pose significant challenges for SMEs, particularly in terms of time and finances. This partnership alleviates such burdens by facilitating easy access to eco-friendly packaging solutions directly through Evri’s delivery network.
Jade Tovey-Richardson, Head of SME Account Management at Evri, is enthusiastic about this aspect of the project.
“At Evri, we’re really passionate about championing SME businesses and so we’re thrilled to be working with Protega in offering our clients a packaging solution that can hopefully support their long-term business growth,” she says.
“Our wider ambition is to become the UK’s most sustainable parcel carrier, which is why we’re particularly pleased to be able to provide businesses with a route to sourcing sustainable packaging supplies.”
This alliance also assists companies aiming to align their logistics strategies with environmental objectives. By switching to eco-friendly packaging options, SMEs can better meet customer expectations and sustainability criteria while simultaneously boosting operational efficacy and enhancing their brand's standing in the market.
Supporting a sustainable and secure supply chain
Protega Global is dedicated to eradicating packaging pollution and reducing dependence on single-use plastics. By manufacturing products like Hexcel Wrap in-house, Protega not only ensures quality but also keeps pricing competitive, making sustainable options more attainable for all business sizes.
Moreover, all of Protega’s operations are based in the UK, which bolsters a secure and transparent supply chain and further cuts down Scope 3 emissions. This local approach guarantees quick, sustainable sourcing options, thus minimizing the environmental burdens typically associated with international shipping and production.
Integrating sustainable packaging into Evri’s delivery network provides businesses a means to fulfill both environmental and operational objectives efficiently. Adopting paper-based packaging solutions not only reduces waste but also aligns brands with eco-friendly values.
The convenience of sourcing packaging materials directly from Evri's platform simplifies logistics, empowering businesses to focus on expansion while striking sustainability targets.
“This partnership is about giving businesses the tools to make a positive impact without overcomplicating the process," explains Richard.
"Sustainability should be accessible to all."
